RUMOR MILL

Tuesday - October 25th

Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

The King is out for estimated 1 month due to the injury to his neck

Hank Out For A Month
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 12:30:36 PM - February 4, 2015

UPDATE***** Just reported by the Rangers is that the injury that happened when Lundqvist was struck in the neck with caused an injury worse than first thought. It is estimated that Lundqvist will be out approximately a month. The question now is can Cam Talbot carry the full load of games with Mackenzie Skapskie as the backup or do the Rangers try to make a deal for a depth goalie such as Enroth? The Rangerswill move this roster decision to the forefront and put any deal for Vermette/Hanzal on the back burner for the time being.

When the Rangers face off against the Bruins tonight , they will have to do it with Cam Talbot betweeen the pipes as the Rangers have announced that Rangers starter Henril Lundqvist is out with complications due to the injury sustained when he was hit in the throat with a puck in a freak accident against the Florida Panthers. The good news is that in the game he was injured, Lundqvist was able to gather himself after the injury and play the rest of the game. He was given a maintenance day yesterday and missed practice but was ruled out for tonights game by coach Alain Vigneault. Mackenzie Skapski has been called up to back up Talbot until Lundqvist gets healthy enough to play.

Ryan Malone has asked the Rangers to terminate his contract as he wants to end his comeback try. The Rangers put him on unconditional waivers yesterday and should be released today. That opens up another NHL contract of the Rangers 50 alotted to each team.

Don Maloney, the Genreal Manager for the Arizona Coyotes was in New York and held talks with Rangers General Manager Glen Sather. The two of course were talking trade. The question is who is lookinging for what pieces. It is being put out there that the Coyotes are looking for a player of the J.T. Miller/Anthony Duclair level and a #2 pick(which the Rangers have their own plus also owning Tampa Bay Lighting pick recieved in the Martin St. Louis deal) or wants a 'huge deal' to get Martin Hanzal (who has a cap friendly hit of $3.1 mil per for 2 more years). To get Hanzal, a deal would have to be at least along the lines of John Moore, J.T. Miller, plus. The Coyotes are done with just getting prospects and want young NHL level talent. Added to those two could also have a player with an expiring contract like Mats Zuccarello (who looks like the odd man out in next seasons lineup due to cap reasons). The Coyotes can afford to give Zuccarello the $4 mil per year on a multi year deal he is looking for and both Moore and Miller are RFA with cap hits around $1 mil per for qualifier. Either Vermette or Hanzal are the players that the Rangers are looking for as they are great on the faceoff circle and would center the Rangers 3rd line. Vermette would have more chemistry with the ex-Columbus players as a rental for just this season, but Hanzal comes with the security of 2 more years at only $3.1 mil cap hit.
