RUMOR MILL

Tuesday - October 25th

Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

Boyle is like a magnet to bad plays this series

Summer One Game Away
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 11:57:12 PM - May 6, 2015

The Rangers are 1 game away from packing up for the summer thanks to the another 2-1 loss to the Washington Caps and Game 5 to be played at the Garden on Friday. It's a toss-up between Dan Boyle and Keith Yandle on who can ruin the powerplay more and who can cost the Ranger more games. Game #3 was a pass from behind the net that Yandle kicked by Henrik Lundqvist as the only goal for a Caps win. The Caps first win of the series was due to Dan Boyle trying to "eat the clock" with 4 seconds left and getting crushed against the boards and giving up the puck that lead to a Caps goal win 1.3 seconds left and a Caps win. In Game #4, Ryan McDonagh tried to control the puck against the boards and lost it that lead to a Caps goal. Also in Game 4, the Caps got away with an interference on Derek Stepan that lead to the Caps first goal as Stepan layed on the ice while the Caps player went right into the area that Stepan would have been if on his feet. It is looking as if the Caps are the team of destiny while it looks like the Rangers are tired and unable to compete this series.

The Rangers already seem to be getting ready for the summer as Boyle, who has played powerplay minutes all year, only played 15 minutes in game 4 as it seems as if coach Alain Vigneault has finally realized he should turn the page on the Boyle project. Putting Yandle and Boyle together has been a huge mistake. It seems clear that Boyle will be a summertime buyout which he has earned with this playoff invisible act. It has been rumored that Martin St. Louis wants to come back next season, but with his play this playoffs, it would seem that the Rangers would move on MSL also.  Carl Hagelin is a RFA this summer and his play has not been worthy of the 3+ million a year that some team will be willing to pay, so he will probably be gone agreeing to an offer sheet or in a trade with a prospect for a top 9 forward. Talbot is all but gone and should bring back the Rangers a late 1st round pick or an NHL ready prospect. The players expected to make the jump next season are college Dman Brady Skjei, AHL Hartford Wolfpack forwards Danny Kristo, Ryan Haggerty, and Oscar Lindberg. Boston University goalie O'Connor wnats to play for a team with a top notch goalie coach and loves what he was being taught by Rangers goalie coach Benoit Allaire last summer at the Rangers developmental camp. The Rangers could target many young forwards with Hayes' brother in Florida being a top target.

With Mats Zuccarello hurt, the Rangers have had to deep in their system and prospects to see who could fill the roles needed. A huge question is how could the Rangers survive and play better with their #1 goalie Lundqvist injured for 2+ months bu can't play a complete game without a 5'8" forward? Are the Rangers that bad at forward? The real answer at forward is where has Rick Nash gone aagain this playoff season? Where is MSL? Did the Rangers work to hard to win the Presidents Trophy that cost them in these playoffs? Will the Rangers make anothe comeback from down 1-3 and win these next 3? Not if the scorers don't score. This series is completetly on Nash, St. Louis, and Boyle who are supposed to score and lead by their experience and have brought nothing to the plate.

Backs are against the wall, who will step up and give their all to get to game 6? Lundqvist can not do it all alone! Let's Go Rangers!
