RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Huge Part Of The Rebuild
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 1:17:11 PM - June 20, 2019

Everyone is excited with the moves the Rangers and G.M. Gorton have done so far this offseason. Trades for Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba along with the signings and bringing from overseas Vitali Kravstov, Igor Shesterkin, and Yegor Rykov. Also free agent from college Patrick Newell and Jr's free agent (and Dylan Cozens linemate) Jacob Elmer. The Rangers are far from done and Friday/Saturday will be amazing to see what happens from either Kakko or Hughes to seeing what/if trades will be made.

I started to wonder why after the Rangers trade for Jacob Trouba that he wasn't signed right away. The Rangers are doing the right thing taking their time with this signing as they don't want to overpay for a player that they have control of. In my opinion the Rangers shouldn't pay over $7.5 million per for 7 years. If Trouba is looking for more than that, the Rangers should let him get offer sheeted. If a team goes higher than $7.5 for 7 years(max allowed), the Rangers would receive 4 1st rounders from the team that signs Trouba to that offer sheet. The reason why is, say a team (Florida where his fiance is studying medicine) offer sheets Trouba for $7.6 per for 7 years ... that equals $53.2 million over the term of the contract. that gets divided by 5 years (this part of dividing any offer sheet by 5 years is done to give bigger compensation losing the player and to deter teams from driving up the prices). The average is $10.64 which going off a tweet from Gord Miller of TSN would put it in the $10,568,590+ range which is 4 first rounders. Trouba will be amazing for the Rangers as a player or as a moving part....either way the Rangers managment has again made a great move in the rebuild process.

With Jesse Puljujarvi asking for out of Edmonton, he seems like the type of player the Rangers would take a long look at! He is an ex-first rounder with size(6foot-4inches) and only 21 years old. This years opening roster ,besides between the pipes, most of the Rangers are 1st round picks from throughout the league and a few of their own..... Kravstov, Zibanejad, Kreider, Namestikov, Strome, Chytil, Andersson, Howden, Shattenkirk, Staal, Skjei, Smith, DeAngelo, and Trouba are all 1st round picks. Thats 14 ex-1st rounders and the Rangers still haven't picked their #2 pick yet in this years draft. The Rangers also have first round defensemen K'Andre Miller, and Lindkvist waiting to turn pro.  2nd rounders Lemiuex Hajek, and Nieves,,, along with 3rd rounders Buchnevich,Fox, and Vesey(signed as a UFA out of college) would round out this years team with Fast who was a 6th rounder. The Rangers like to make trades for players that are picked in the 1st round as they should be of high skill that they were picked so high. Of course there have been such 1st rounders as Daigle, Jessiman, etc.

Next few days and weeks should define this rebuild and start the climb back to power!!!!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!
