RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Rangers Trim Four
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 2:08:40 PM - September 20, 2019

The Rangers have trimmed their training camp roster down to 45 following 4 additional cuts today.  The four sent down include forward Jake Elmer, along with defensive trio Darren Raddysh, Brandon Crawley and Vicnent Loverde.

Having started last Friday with 56 players, the team still has anywhere between 22 and 25 more decisions to make, with the team limited to a maximum of 23 healthy players, though given salary cap constraints, it would not surprise to see that number closer ot the 20 man roster.

Of the four sent down, only Crawley and Elmer saw any game time.  Crawley clockied 10:36 of ice time in the 4-3 loss to the Devils on Wednesday.  He failed to register a shot, but did pick up 4 hits and got into a pushing match later in the game that did not result in any penalties.  For his part, Elmer saw 7:36 of ice time and registered a -1 rating.

Raddysh had been touted as a potential depth right-hander in the absence of Tony DeAngelo, a position that seems somewhat unlikely given his relative early reassignment.  Meanwhile Elmer, an undrafted rookie signed last Spring, will get a chance to prepare for his first pro-season.

LoVerde, one of several AHL contracted players over the Summer, will likewise report to Hartford.
