RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Rangers Acquire Minor League Netminder
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 11:40:54 PM - February 19, 2020

The Rangers announced tonight, the acquisition of goaltender Jean-Francois Berube from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for future considerations.  The move may seem a little odd given the current three-goalie roster at the NHL level, but Berube offers some goaltending depth for the Wolf Pack, who are in a position to make their first playoff appearance since 2015.

A former fourth round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, Berube has appeared in 34 NHL games for the Islanders and Blackhawks, with his last appearance back in 2017-18.  He carries a career 9-10-4 record with a 3.39 goals against average and .898 save percentage.

This year he's appeared in 29 games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, splitting time almost equally with Alex Lyon, posting a 12-11-4 record to go with a 2.54 GAA and .906 Sv%.

He;ll join the Wolf Pack who've relied on the tandem of Adam Huska and Tom McCullum since Igor Shesterkin was promoted.  Huska, who is in his rookie season, has struggled somewhat, posting a 3.11 GAA and .892 Sv% though has posted a solid 10-7-5 record.
