Goaltender Adam Huska will be back for another year

Huska Agrees To One Year Deal
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 9:03:53 PM - August 3, 2021

He currently sits fourth on the Rangers netminder depth chart, but Adam Huska will come back for another year with the Rangers, hoping to finally get a chance at an NHL start.  The 24 year old Slovak was drafted by the Rangers in the 7th round of the 2015 Entry Draft and has worked his way up to starter in Hartford.

Though his 2.70 GAA and .890 Save Percentage don't look particularly impressive, Huska was a big reason for Hartford during the abbreviated season.  He finished the year with a 9-4-0 record in 13 games, including six straight wins in Hartfords seven game winning streak from March 25th to April 15th.  During the run, he made 102 stops on 112 shots to put up a .911 Save% and a 1.89 GAA.

While he remains a longer shot to become an NHL regular at this point in his career, he remains the most ready prospect netminder within the system.  He's likely to split time with Tyler Wall in Hartford this coming season with Dylan Garand likely to spend another year in Canadian Juniors.

With Huska now signed, the Rangers are left with four RFAs, headlined by fellow netminder Igor Shesterkin.  Additionally, Tim Gettinger, Ty Ronning and Libor Hajek all remain as RFAs who are yet to agree to deals for the upcoming seasons.
