RUMOR MILL

Thursday - August 26th

A contract with the last remaining RFA, Libor Hajek appears imminent according to Mollie Walker in the New York Post.

In some ways it's curious as to why the negotiations have taken this long, with Hajek not projected to be in the starting line-up at this point and perhaps more likely to be used as part of a future trade or to be used as depth in case of injury.

Forward Ty Ronning has signed a one year contract to stay with the Rangers

Ronning Signed
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 5:59:50 PM - August 6, 2021

Capping off their signings this week, the Rangers have come to terms with forward Ty Ronning on a one-year $750,000 deal.  The agreement means the 24 year old right winger - and son of former NHLer Cliff Ronning, will get another shot at trying to break into the NHL with the Rangers.

A former draft pick of the Rangers - 2016 - 7th Round - Ronning had spent much of his career inthe ECHL prior to last season.  With no ECHL season for the Mariners last year, Ronning was invited to play with the Wolfpack, making the most of his opportunity.

In 18 games with the Pack last season, he had 8 goals and 10 assists in 18 games, placing him third on the team in points, earning a qualifying offer this Summer.  Prior to last season, Ronning had just 13 points in 61 AHL appearances over four seasons, and was at risk of seeing his NHL career ended.

With Ronning now signed, the Rangers have only to reach agreements with goaltender Igor Shesterkin, and defenseman Libor Hajek.
