RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Brian Leetch Night Confirmed
Posted by Daniel Akeson ≡ - September 5, 2007

Not too much of a story here, but longtime Ranger Brian Leetch will have his number retired amongst the likes of Eddie Giacomin, Rod Gilbert, Mike Richter, and Mark Messier in the Garden rafters on January 24th against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Leetch may have been the greatest Ranger of all-time, if not at least the best defenseman. He was unceremoniously traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2004 for Jarkko Immonen, Maxim Kondratiev, a first-round pick, and a second round pick. The debate will rise for years whether this deal worked out for the Rangers, but nonetheless, with Leetch's commitment to the Rangers and their fans, he should have been allowed to finish his career a blueshirt.
