RUMOR MILL

Tuesday - October 25th

Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

Avery and the Rangers seem to be getting TEAM tough

aVERY Good 10 Game Spurt
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 12:17:17 PM - January 7, 2010

Last night Sean Avery reminded Rangers fans why he is the peoples choice in a Bleushirt jersey. Avery was on the edge all night and totally took his ex-team mates off their game. Avery was scoring, skating, and agitating Dallas to distraction of their gameplan. AVERY chants could be heard many times during the game. After the game Avery had the perfect quote as Stan Fischler asked him,"What was so different about tonight?" and Avery said,"Well, I am getting paid by BOTH teams." That brought all interviewers into a laugh but made a valid point. Avery's game was down and he wasoverly punished by the NHL for a quote about an ex-girlfriend. It is great to see that the GRATE one is back.

With Prospal out, it forced Torterella to try different players onto the top line. Having Avery with Dubinsky and Gaborik always made sense. Other teams will make sure Avery is watched which allows Gaborik alot more ice to work with. The Rangers are 7-1-2 in the last 10 and have given the fans alot to cheer about as of late. Granted, there is alot to improve but the base has been set to build upon. Could the Rangers use a physical defensman instead of Redden or Rozsival, of course. Could the Rangers have a topline center to help Gaborik be his expolsive self(not that he is doing badly as he is almost to 30 already), of course. But Sather has this club where it is , so they have to do it with whats within the roster and in Hartford.

Well Ranger fans, we are around the halfway point and in the chase. We have seen Gaborik live up to all his hype. The Rangers started off on fire and also had a long time between wins. That had to be expected with 2 deadbeat defensemen(ovepaid mistakes by Sather)-2 young veteran defensemen(Staal,Girardi)--and 2 rookies(DelZotto and Gilroy). We have also seen alittle of Sanguinetti and Heikkenen.

When this team is clicking, they are fun to watch but when they are off, man are they way off. I would love to see Stepan and McDonaugh join this team after the college season is over at Wisconsin. The Rangers still need a physical defenseman to protect Henrik and for the rookies (Del Zotto, Gilroy, and Anisimov) not to tire from the NHL grind.

Last night I sat up in the BLUESEATS(thanks Brisco). Haven't sat up there in years and boy was it fun. Alot of comments about everything that goes on, adds to the whole aura of the GARDEN FAITHFUL!
Still look for the Rangers and Oilers to make a trade with each other that will include defensemen closer to the trade deadline because Sather has the cap too close.
