RUMOR MILL

Tuesday - October 25th

Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

Tort's wants the best players to always play like best players EVERY game.

Need Consistency
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 11:25:13 AM - November 27, 2010

The Rangers have been waiting for Gaborik to get healthy and played a tremendous team game in his abscence. Now that Gaborik is healthy and in the lineup, he needs to show the consistency and offensive explosion that could actually put the Rangers into a top level team in the Eastern Conference. There are games that Gabby looks unstoppable and yet games like the Colorado and Tampa games where you wonder if he was out late the night before as he was a non-factor.

The King between the pipes has to get his act together also on a regular basis. Last nights 40 save shutout, and third shutout on the season, hopefully is a step in the right direction for Hank. In the meantime, the Biron signing has looked like a key offseason addition as the Rangers "MB" has been solid all season to date. With a young defense, the goalies will be faced with alot of oddman rushes and open men in front, but Hank and Martin have actually done a very good job of helping the kids along.

The defense was a major concern this summer. The Rangers management went the route of addition from subtraction by sending overpaid liability Redden to the AHL. Then Tort's went the route of players he knows for a filler by having Sather bring in Eminger. He took a chance on Sauer who only needed to stay healthy to prove he belongs on the big club. The Rangers defense without an injured Roszival is Staal-Giradi/DelZotto-Eminger/Gilroy-Sauer who have played a pretty solid game for a bunch of young players put into major roles besides the couple times a game they miscommunicate that lead to bad coverages. With the likes of Valentenko,Kundratek,Badwin, Neimi and McDonagh in the system; the future looks outstanding from the backend once they all learn how each other plays.

The Rangers youth at forward has been the brightest spot so far 1/4 of the way into the season. The "Pack Line" of Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan have lead the team to it's early successes. With Gabby's return, a scoring line of Gaborik-Stepan-Frolov will give many goalies a neckburn from lighting the redlight so often. The Boyle-Prust -Fedetenko line is fast and punishing on teams while the Christensen-Avery-Boogard line gives the oppostion fits. Expect the Norweigan Hobbit to make his Broadway debut soon and add a new level of excitement as he seems to have adjusted to the smaller NHL ice while learning the Rangers system in Hartford. He would fit in well with Boyle and Prust while pushing Fedentenko down to the Avery-Boogard/Christensen line with Avery and Christensen switching off at center.

If the Rangers can stay consistent and healthy, while adding Roszival and Drury ( it looks as if Prospal is still at least 2 months away), the Rangers can be the best on ice product the Garden has played since the 1997 season.

******************************************************************************* Look for future happenings:

Look for the Rangers to offer Rangers DelZotto's best friend and this summers RFA Stamkos an offer sheer of 8-10 years at 8 million per.

Since Staal and Girardi have shown they can play in all situations and take on the leaqdership role and with the future powerplay pointmen of Valentenko and Kundratek along with already DelZotto; look for the Rangers to finally pull the trigger on a Roszival trade. Gilroy, Christensen,White, and Kennedy may all find tickets out of town for picks or prospects like the Byers for Bickel trade.

Look for when teams run the Rangers' goalies that Ranger players retaliate with doing the same, which will stop it once and for all.

Look for Rangers management to start negotiations with Dubinsky-Callahan-Boyle when January rolls around.
