Hajek was very impressive. I see him as a talent that will get better and better. Problem is Gorton has to trade freakin Staal to free up a spot. Hajek has size, speed and shoots on net. Chytil to me has never been nearly impressive as most made him out to be. He floats. Andersson is much better. Howden isn't ready. It's obvious. Gropp is big and fast. I hope to see him put on a real line. Hank sucked ass and that is putting it mildly. Honestly, I would like to see Chytil and Howden get a full AHL season. Hope Smith plays well and both he and Staal are dealt and then Hajek and Lindgren get the call.

Thought Chytil started off slow, but got better as the game went on...agree on Hajek, nice potential there...Howden probably needs a bit more time IMO he wasn't the same sort of noticeable as Andersson the other night and Chytil tonight.

Howden didn't look good. He was lost. Also 2 and 9 on draws. Gropp looks much bigger and his wrist shot is NHL quality for sure. I would like to see him play with some real talent. Another AHL year won't hurt him. Fontaine didn't have a noticeable game but he sometimes takes a game to get comfortable. I thought Chytil sucked the first 2 periods. Problem they have on defense is pretty simple. At some point Staal and Smith need to go. They are taking up roster spots for talented kids.
There are no spots open on the defense. Gorton at some point needs to deal both Staal and Smith. If Smith plays well he probably can move him where as before he was worth nothing. Hope by the deadline we will see

Mixed bag last night. Everyone started slow. Got much better as the game went on. The whole first period was a disaster.
Highlights - Buch is going to have a breakout year this year. These preseason games are well below his level but he looks like he's toying with these guys out there. Chytil needs a little seasoning but he could do the same. Keane looked surprisingly good. I don't think he makes the team but very surprised at him, especially since I was down on picking him where they got him. DeAngelo looked better but he still needs to defend better. He's great with the puck but I'm not sure the guy can skate backwards. Beleskey played better than I thought he would. Smith looked borderliine good out there. Looks like a completely different player. Gilmour also a long shot to make the team on defense but would be completely comfortable with him as a callup. Tokarski did his job. I still think he's going to Hartford but he might give Georgiev a run for his money.
Meh - A lot of the younger kids, which is less a criticism more of an observation. Might have been some jitters. Howden Hajek, Gropp. Going to lump Vinni and Fontaine into this group as well. Could have done more, but understandable given the situation
Lowlights - Lundqvist traditionally starts slow and this was no exception. Can't fault him for all 5 but he's not moving and tracking the puck like he does when he's on top of his game.
Will also be interesting to see if/what changes come out of a loss by Quinn and his staff.

You'd like to see Lundqvist be on top of his game, but.... it's preseason.... he's a lock for the starting position... the game means nothing.... obviously it's not good to relax in practice, but there's no real reason for him to be laser focused, so he wasn't
