The New York Rangers’ ECHL farm team, the Maine Mariners, was one of six teams to announce that they were opting out of the coming season. That makes seven ECHL teams that will not play games while the COVID-19 pandemic is wracking North America. All have announced that they plan on resuming play in the 2021-22 season.

I'm wondering when the other minor league teams follow suit. It just doesn't make sense for these teams to play. It should just be the NHL teams with taxi squads.

Yeah, most of the ECAC (College Hockey that includes the Ivy League schools) have opted out...just 4 teams left there, and you have to wonder how the AHL can afford to continue, but they're still planning on starting February 5th. Should be noted that other parts of the ECHL are still planning on playing...

Hartford will wind up with a three-headed goalie problem. Huska, Wall and Kinkaid.
