Rangers won't be signing any FA's for a long time. Gorton was terrible with contracts. Especially waiting to long too lock guys up and giving out moronic NMC and NTC's. If Drury is smart he will extend Fox, Lindgren, Shesterkin and Kakko now so he can save money down the line. Rangers need to move on from Strome and Buchnevich in order to get a faceoff stud and second or first line center type in here. I would say Kreider should go but dumbass Gorton game him NMC and NTC's. The Blues window has closed. O'Reilly should be a target. Vancouver blows. They need talent everywhere but especially on defense. Right side big time. Strome won 43% of his draws this year. Sorry, that isn't cutting it. Lundkvist sadly probably won't play here. Fox isn't going anywhere. Schneider is going to be exactly what our small defense needs. Trouba is locked in because of more Gorton stupidity. I think a package of Strome and Lundkvist probably gets you Horvat. The Canucks have to fix the right side of their defense. It blows. Me, I'd rather send something like Buchnevich, Strome and Jones for O'Reilly and a pick. O'Reilly is a beast on draws. He's clutch and is a great playoff guy. Blackwell, Rooney, Di Giushitty, Howden all have to be out of here next year. Gorton was an incompetent idiot missing out on Bennett for 2 years. I would focus in on Jenner now. Columbus sucks ass also. He's a plus faceoff guy. 55% this year. He's tough, good size and would an excellent 4th line center. I don't think they would have to give much more than 2 out of the 3 of Howden, Rooney and Blackwell to get him. Maybe a prospect like Reunanen. These are the kind of moves Gorton either was too stupid to pull off or didn't have the stones to pull off. Ultimately, it led to his ass being fired.
A lot of teams can't pull off trades like those because they don't have a great farm or a lot of young talent on their big club. That is not the case with the Rangers. I almost got the sense Gorton was hoarding as much talent as he could and never got to a point where he was brave enough to say, here are my top 6 forwards for the next 5 to 7 years, my top 4 defenseman for the next 5 to 7 years. Now let me get the guys you need to grind out playoff wins when it gets nasty and use the rest of the talent here to get those guys.

Asside from Shesterkin and Lindgren, I would not bring anyone else back next season. Trade Buchnevich, Chytil and Hajek. Seattle takes Howden (hopefully), and buyout DeAngelo.
Not crazy. Could go either way on Hajek as a 7th dman, but directionally I agree. Buch/Chytil could be included in a stud C package. Ideally I wouldn't want to give up on Chytil yet, but it's all about roster makeup and chemistry. Plus which players need to be included in trade packages.

The Avalanche are giving Jack Johnson a PTO...I am surprised
Johnson was one of the piss poor signings last summer, when Davidson and Gorton ignored the need for toughness. One knuckle dragger might have made all the difference in the world for the young players and stopping idiots like Wilson before they get going. You could say Davidson and Gorton made their bed.
