AV could have played Clenndening.... where? 4th line winger even though he isn't a winger and probably hasn't been since pond hockey.

Or he could have messed up his D rotation, possibly compromising the D. You get in to a rythme when playing. Going from every 3rd shift to every 6th shift gets you cold.

They dressed him in case someone on defense was injured or ejected or any other odd scenario..... but I don't blame AV for not wanting to mess with his lineup any more than he already has.

He doesn't have it out for Clendening that I know for or have read until this thread.... Guy is a +4 with 2 assists in 5 games....

You rotate him in to the D lineup. It doesn't disrupt anything. Teams dress 7 defensemen all the time. They don't do it and leave one on the bench in case of injury or ejection.

It's fairly well known that AV hates that Clendening was picked up in the offseason, and has no intention of ever using him. He had to dress him because of the injuries, but this was a big F-U by AV to the GM.

Why do you think this? Clendening seems like the ideal AV guy. Skates well, moves the puck well, unfortunately not particularly big or tough.

Your response actually answers the question. By all observations Clendening should be a regular for AV based on AV's history. But he's not. Instead, AV plays Girardi and Holden, two players that are not as fast or as good with the puck. Why? Because AV prefers the perceived security of veteran players. With the forwards he has no choice because the forward corps is very young, with several talented young players recently acquired by the GM. But on defense he has his security blankets, whom he plays despite the obvious deficiencies they have.

I can't find the articles I had read in the off-season which reported that AV was not happy with the acquisition.
