He will be looking for "the" contract. He's going to ask for at least what Vlasic got and he's better than him. Rangers will not be able to sign him to a contract like that. Organization is loaded on the left side. He could bring back a franchise, number 1 center talent.

Agree. He's getting a lot than Shatt. He won't be taking a discount to stay here IMO. He' a MN boy. They tend to go back home and sign there.

Not crazy If Shatt and DeAngelo and Smith and Skjei all perform well next season, I could see this happening next summer. Deal McDonagh for a haul and your D is still good with the guys I mentioned and kids like Graves and a few others coming up soon.

I'd be surprised if DeAngelo makes the team out of camp. He has all of 39 NHL games with a lousy team. He's waiver exempt and Kampfer is not. Kampfer is the more logical #7, and probably the reason why they signed him for another 2 years. Don't forget Bereglazov. A big body with 3 KHL seasons under his belt.

Forget Graves. He will never make the NHL. Not because I have any special inside information, or have seen him play more than a couple of games. It's just that Dump likes him.

God you're a 2 year old moron. Kampfer is a piece of crap. The fact you penciled him in confirms that you know nothing about hockey. Try watching golf. It's more your speed. A bunch of polesmokers with bright shirts.

Does your dumbazzzzzz even pay attention Eddie to people this team signs like Pionk or Bereglazov. Kampfer is a terrible AHL player. He showed he has no NHL ability to anybody with a clue who watched him. Obviously you don't have a clue. They signed him for 2 more years because the Rangers have been quite dumb with their AHL team the past few years. He is an atrocious player who should retire and go get a real job.

They didn't sign Pionk to sit in the press box. They're not going to let DeAngelo rot in there either. Kids have to play to develop and they're not going to do it as a #7 so if they're not ready to play a regular role, they'll go down to the AHL. Bereglazov has a KHL out clause so he's not getting sent down either or else we lose him for nothing.

That's why you have Kampfer. So he can sit in the press box and be the 7th.

It's also why Holden has to be dealt soon I think. Gorton has something cooking, we just don't know what it is yet and who the C/forward we'll add will be.

Have to figure the 6th dman with Staal will be a kid you mentioned concust. And Graves may have to wait another year until we buy out Staal next summer.

Hmmmm, and then there is this ..

Ryan McDonagh played a big part in landing Kevin Shattenkirk

11:24AM 7/3/17

"Playing with Ryan McDonagh" was a main reason that Kevin Shattenkirk mentioned multiple times on his conference call and in TV interviews on Saturday as a main reason why he signed with the Rangers.

Shattenkirk said that McDonagh is an "elite defenseman" and plays that a style that will mesh well with how he plays.

He said that McDonagh's skating ability should "drive" his game and that his goal is to "come in here and be a phenomenal defenseman for this team and I think Ryan McDonagh will help me achieve that."

Shattenkirk said later, "term and money are big but the opportunity to play with a World Class defenseman like Ryan McDonagh and the opportunity to play at MSG, live in NYC, and obviously play for a team that I think is very close to winning a Stanley Cup. Those are factors that ultimately won out in the end."

McDonagh and Shattenkirk have been teammates many times before with Team USA, at the 2014 Olympics, 2007 Under 18s, 2009 World Juniors and 2011 World Championships.

Prior to the 2007 draft, 2007 Under 18 coach Ron Rolston said of Shattenkirk, "in terms of offensive upside and ability to change the game and be a big influence offensively, Kevin Shattenkirk, with his vision, is probably the cream of the crop."

Rolston said of McDonagh, "what I enjoyed about him was his competitive nature, and he was extremely tough to play against in the defensive end."

Staal, Girardi, Henrik, Redden etc... contracts cannot happen anymore....If you have a need and can improve your team by giving up someone good before its too late... you have to think about doing it. Absolutely under no circumstances can you give the 17th place Norris voting guy a Redden contract....Who already plays 53 minutes a night

That's because you're dumb, don't understand the cap, our cap situation going forward, what this organization has on the left side for defense coming up.

There is no possible way the Rangers can sign McDonagh to the contract he will want. If you did an ounce of research you would know that. He will also be 29 when his contract is up. You don't sign a guy that age with all those miles to a mega contract. They made that mistake with Girardi and Staal and paid dearly for it. Wake up. You speak of McDonagh like he will be 24 when his is approaching FA. Another example of yet another Rangers fan getting attached to a player approaching 30 becaus he's played well here. It never ends.

If you actually did some research about the Rangers upcoming RFA's and cap situation, you can clearly see there is no possible way they can keep McDonagh. It makes no sense to do so with Graves, Day and Bereglazov coming up. The only logical move is at the end of this season when he will be 29 is to trade him for an elite center prospect or top 5 draft pick.

Further educating PV29. Next year Skjei is a RFA. My guess is the Rangers will try to offer him the dame deal they gave McDonagh. He probably would be smart to do only 3 years at around 5 million. He'll get it also. My guess is that will be a player vulnerable to an offer sheet bid. The following year Vesey, Miller and Hayes are up. Figure 5 million for Miller. 3 for Vesey. 4 for Hayes. That's 17 million with Skjei. Only Nash Holden, Grabner and Klein coming off the books. My guess is they keep Grabner. If he has another good year he'll get at least 3 million a year. So take that up to 20 million. The same year McDonagh is up, Zucc is up. You're looking at maybe 6 million a year for Zucc. That's 26 million. So, the fact you think they will sign McDonagh when the strongest position on their farm is at left defense is the thing that is laughable. Especially since he'll be 30 in his UFA year.

I was surprised they signed Smith. It was a bad move since they signed Shattenkirk. Before signing Shattenkirk I liked the move. Now, I don't. You can't tie up 21 million with the top 4 on defense not even counting what Skjei got. So, unless Gorton can pull of a miracle, get Staal to agree to move and find somebody desperate enough to take him, there is no possible way they are keeping McDonagh. The signing of Smith and Shattenkirk to me is a obvious sign that they aren't going to sign McDonagh. They value guys who can play the right side, a righty PP shot more than McDonagh long term. I found it a little amusing that Shattenkirk talked about wanting to come here because McDonagh was here. He's going to have to get over that real quick in the near future.

Lots of speculation from the guy who's wrong 75% of the time. Your entire theory is based on speculation that McDonagh's contract demands will be unreasonable. What if they're not? You also don't know what the cap will be in two years, but keep spouting off on things which have no factual basis, as always.

Ya Know what's DUMB? Comparing McDonagh to Girardi and Staal. That's DUMB.

The Rangers are not set on the left side. Without McDonagh they're ****ed. Unless you know of another Dman with his skating, vision, puck handling and tenacity that's waiting in the wings, but I've not heard of any projected talent like that for NYR.

When healthy he's one of the best in the league. Trading him makes the team worse, not better. And whatever they would get back would have the same/similar cap hit, unless you're getting scrubs in exchange. So yeah, this has gotta be a joke.

I could see McDonaghs extention being identical to Shattenkirks.

6.7 for 4 more years... Front load it so that he gets the money he's deserved right away, and if he declines towards the expiration date, the contract becomes tradeable

Doubt any extension he signs will become tradable, because all these deals have NTC's now, so if he takes a little less to stay in NY, you can bet your butt McDonagh will get one.

With that said, how about we add a top 9 C/forward, enjoy a great D pair of McD/Shatt, have an awesome year, go a long way in the playoffs and maybe win a cup and then we can worry about what happens with McDonagh next late June/July.
