I never raved about Grachev, his numbers were great in juniors but he turned out to be yet another guy who could only score in juniors. Same reservations for him, Tambellini, and Graves - skating. That's not to say you can't make the NHL as an average skater but if you do you need to bring a whole lot more to the table.

You can't make it onto an AV team if you're an average skater. He will cut slack to veterans, not to rookies or young guys.

100% ....just look at 2014 Playoffs....MSL total liability out there...1st team PP and never missed a shift...Benoit Pouliot had 50 hit from behind penalties that year...never missed a shift...Prob a French thing too

I'm not penciling in Andersson for a spot yet either, but strong showings at tournaments like this make a case that he should get a long look in camp, if not the benefit of the doubt.

The reasoning being, if an 18 year old kid is 80% of the player that a 27 year old journeyman is, he should play - even though he's "worse" - because by investing time and experience into the 18 year old you are much more likely to come out with a better NHL player for a longer amount of time, than if you played the journeyman, even if he scores 4 additional points, even if he adds a win to your win column.

Yes Andersson is currently playing in a junior tournament, but don't forget he played 64 games in the SHL the last two years, which is one of the top non-NHL pro leagues in the world. He had 19 points in 42 games last year, which is excellent considering his age, and the SHL is traditionally a low-scoring league. There's a world of difference between the point Andersson is right now in his development, Grachev never reached this point in his career.

Yeah lets's hope...because we are short on Forwards

Unfortunately, we seem to hire all the coaches who think and do the exact opposite.

He couldn't help it if his GM gave him a split squad in order to keep Janet Jackson happy with by bringing in her country folk.

Mcphee - 2017-08-04 11:50 AMI was a big supporter of Keeping Stralman for the same price that we signed Boyle for.

Considering the fact that they once gave Not So Rozy a $5M contract, I guess they figured they'd have to pay a king's ransom for a REAL d-man like Stralman...so they chose the bargain basement option, The Boil.

Except that Stralman signed with Tampa for the exact same money(more years) as Boyle did.

Rangers didn't think he was worth as much as The Boil if I recall. Plus he had a physical side and we know what happens to those players under AV.....

The little bit I saw I liked. If he doesn't make the Rangers sending him back to Sweden might not be his best scenario for future development. He needs to work on his offense, he appears to have the defensive side figured out. He's sturdy, and has the skating. But going back to Sweden and scoring 5 goals a season, with very little power play exposure, wouldn't be as beneficial as going to a major junior hockey team and being the guy. He would be the first line center on most Jr. teams and would get all the ice time, especially power plays and faceoff responsibilities. Personally I'd rather see him put up big numbers in Jr hockey next season. Jr. hockey competition is plenty good enough for him to hone his offensive skills. He would be a lot better all round player a year from now coming off a spectacular offensive Jr hockey season.

100% agree...He definitely needs to play another year of competitive hockey preferably Canadian Juniors....This notion that he's already penciled in our lineup is misguided
