No doubt about that....But just not Dartmouth with your 2003 1st rd pick in a HOF draft

Which is why they revamped the scouting and player development staff, and ever since Gordie has taken over, he's done a good job for us with what we've had.

Yes its getting better...up from non existent with that POS Sather

Stop talking about the past. The farm is stocked in talented goalies. In talented D now. What they need is for Andersson, Chytil and Gropp to come through. Hopefully, Kovacs can improve a lot this year. We need fast, relentess, hard to play against forwards with some offensive skill to replace the overpaid dogs we have and had on the roster. See Stepan. See Brassard. Possibly see Kreider.

Two things.1) They more than likely don't win the Cup without some of those guys they traded for.
2)The Norstrom deal was all to make Messier happy. He cried that he wanted his ex Oiler buddies on the team.

Basically, Andersson is Hagelin with hockey sense, 10 times more passing skill and a can finish. I like that. Chytil seems like a lesser version of Andersson with more stick handling ability. IMO, they trade McDonagh for a top 7 pick next year and a top prospect. Help is on the way. Graves, Day, DeAngelo and Zborovskiy coming. D will be young and elite soon. Would love to hear some updates on Day's fitness this off-season. This guy could be a freakin monster soon if the motivation is up another level.

I think they were gonna win it...it was their time...they had a great season, they had a lights out goalie....He traded the future for rentals...all of those trades were bad

You can't include Weight then since he was traded the year before.Kovalev never performed here like he did in PItt.Would have he performed better,we'll never know.I do know he was relatively young when he came back the second time, and he was his same frustrating self once again.

The other thing about the trades is this.If he doesn't make them and they don't win he gets ripped.Maybe Keenean comes out in the paper and says I asked for some different players and didn't get them.I didn't like every move but my thoughts are this,we won a Cup and I'm happy with that.No guarantee that we ever win one any other time.

You make up idiotic crap that are just lies. Hagelin was a role player. Thinking the 7th pick in the draft will be an upgraded version of Hagelin is hardly retiring his number fool.

Bla Bla Bla...Hagelin was a bit more than a role player....He was always in the middle of things in the playoffs...We gave him away for free...Yes thinking the #7 pick will be an upgrade over anything is Foolish given that he has not made the team yet....Pavel Brendl was the #4 pick.... Im sure you posted the same things when Mclrath was drafted...He's gonna be this...gonna be that...top pair...next Shea Weber etc...

McIlrath was screwed over by our pansy coach who thinks all defenseman have to pass and that physical play means nothing. Thus, why the slot is always filled with forwards in front of Hank. We also didn't give away Hagelin for free you imbecile. We used that pick to get Gropp. Gropp has the potential to be a big time, forward for us down the line. Hagelin got 4 million a season. He's a role player. Nothing more. He sucked this year. He sucked offensively for our team in the playoffs.

Once again you do no research. Hagelin had 26 points in 75 games for us in the playoffs. He sucked. Also, he had 22 points this season for Pitt and 2 G, 0 A in 15 playoff games. He sucked. His playoffs last year was a fluke. He's a role player. You don't pay role players 4 million a season. I think Gropp has a chance to be a consistent 40-50 point wing for years.

Ok lets go with Mclrath was screwed over by AV....Then why does he still not have an NHL job?....offered to the whole league for free and no takers.....Ok we got Gropp with potential for Hagelin...where is he? We traded Hagelin away 2 years ago

I would not be suprised if he replaced Smith on Detroits third pair. They liked his playoff performance.

Disagree with you on Andersson. From what I've seen, I've not been particularly impressed with his shot, and he's not as fast as Hagelin by a long shot. He looks like a 3rd line, maybe 2nd line center to me...with maybe 20 goals if he has some things go his way, more commonly a 15G 30A kind of guy with defensive capability and size.

As for Chytil, I see him having much better hands than Andersson, better passer but much less inclined to play in traffic or go to the front of the net. Things could change for sure, but see them as different types of players.

Now Gropp is the key piece for trading Hagelin. Back then it was stole Etem for Hagelin. Maybe Brooks can write an article about it.

Then I guess Messier wouldn't be able to play for this coach since he loves to have pussies on the team. The Norstrom deal was one of the worst trades this team ever made. The only guy that had any effect on this team from that trade was Churla, who,if i remember correctly was considered a throw in for that trade.

Yep...Horrible trade ... digest this from the NY Times 1996 article

As is often the case in Ranger trades, they made their roster older. McSorley will turn 33 and Kurri will turn 36 on May 18; Churla will be 31 on June 24. Of the traded Rangers, Ferraro was the oldest at 31; Norstrom is 24, Laperriere is 22 and Lafayette is 23.

We don't have the lottery fixed for us by the NHL like the Pens because the owner was a moron and the fans don't show up so the team was broke. Or they don't tank season after season like the Hawks to get elite talents. Kings don't win anything without Doughty who was drafted 3rd overall. Red Wings are one of the few exceptions. Oilers win win at least 2 cups with McDavid. Do we give them credit for sucking ass for 10 years? All leagues as I have said before should have a rule. You can't draft higher than 10th if you get the first or second pick the year before. I'm sick of leagues rewarding incompetence.

I am one of the few who agree. The argument most people make is, "you don't win the cup if you don't make those trades." I think we had the talent to win a few cups.

You forgot Zubov. You know, the guy who played 12 seasons and won a cup with Dallas.

I think they had the talent to win the Cup too.I certainly didn't like the Gartner trade.Unfortunately, unless you have a time machine and can go bacvk and undo those trades to see what would have happened,we will never know. You have to be content with 1994 which I'm fine with.

Now their recent history where I was against the MSL,Yandle, and Staal trades is a different story. There is a good possibility that this team could be much better now,and have a much better prospect pool had they not made those trades. They gave up a few picks for Smith this past year, but they at least signed him for 3 more years so that lessens the loss of the picks.
