But us asswipes don't know the first thing about hockey.

It's not a matter of being a Halverson supporter. It's a matter of not giving up on every 20 year old prospect in the organization and being these negative tools that think all our prospects suck. Look at the record of this team the last 10 seasons. You don't have those records when your farm sucks for a decade like this board consistently makes it out to be.

Nell made the team because he isn't going to play much. Georgiev looks like he was a very interesting find. I'm pretty sure they didn't want Halverson to lose a ton of playing time to Georgiev. Agree though that I wouldn't spend a top 2 pick on a goalie. There are way too many goalies in this system with promise that were late round picks. Halverson is only 21. From what I can see, it looks like Georgiev might be the guy they are looking at as the backup to Hank next season. Then move Halverson to the Pack next year. This is all because Shesterkin was stupid and signed a 3 year deal with this team.

Can I ask a question? Seriously. Why can't you just post like this. It makes some sense, there are no insults and people would reply in a decent manner. Wouldn't it be better to have actual conversations with people?

It's amazing how dumb you people are on organizational strategy and analysis. Nell didn't beat Halverson out. They put him on the AHL team because they don't want their backup to play. Nell was awful for the pack. He was a half-azzzz college goalie. They want Halverson at 21 to play. The starter there is a kid they obvious are really high on. Even more than Halverson which is not an insult. All this goalie stuff started because Shesterkin was a pusssssie. Instead of saying, I'm going to take that old fart Lundqvist's job from him. He ran away like a wuss and signed for 3 years with his Russian team. Which tells me already, he doesn't have a great makeup for a goalie. Talent wise from scouting reports he's legit. Attitude and confidence wise IMO, he's crap at the moment. Lundqvist was ready to be picked off as a starter. I suspect Nell will be released halfway through the season. I also think if Georgijev plays really well, Pavelec will be dealt at the deadline. At this point I no longer believe the Rangers going forward will want a vet, project goalie. I think they want to bring in a young goalie who is ready to take Hank's job.

Good thing all you worry about at a hockey rink is here the hotdog stand and dumper is. Your logic of putting Nell who in your words is awful to play as a backup to Georgiev and send the better goalie Halvorson (in your esteemed opinion)to a lessor league to face quantity instead of the quality he could be facing sharing the job with Georgiev is well just dumb.

What's better is he somehow thinks AV would play anyone over Hank when he's making $8 million per year. Shesterkin didn't come because he knew he couldn't get the starting job. We have at least 2 defensemen that should play before Staal, but they aren't. The Rangers and AV would never bench Hank at this stage. Unless he was so dreadful the Flyers wouldn't play him.

Let's check in on that Pittsburgh defense that he was drooling over,

Not bad, considering they gave up 10 goals?

Realize it was Niemi as well last night, but I've been wanting to say this for a few months now. Pittsburgh D is really bad but I also think people are way too high on goalie Murray. As much as Fleury may have had some weak playoff series over the years, I think Murray will struggle with the workload and just don't think he's anywhere near as good as some have given him credit for. Time will tell of course, but many experts have him in top 3 in the league already, and he's gone high in fantasy drafts as well. I think he'll end up as a backup within 3 or 4 years but that's just my eyes, not any expertise I have in goaltender evaluation

Pens might be in trouble this year. They've always been top-heavy, and built the team around that. In the past though they've had good secondary scoring (Neal, Kunitz etc). Last year they still had their top end talent and mediocre secondary scoring (Hornqvist, Guentzel, Bonino, Sheary) but that, plus hot goaltending, got them a cup.

This year, Hornqvist is gone, Bonino is gone. Kunitz is gone. Their roster is basically 4 guys and a bunch of filler. They'll either have to have young guys step up (and I mean really step up) or contrary to what the pundits are saying, not only will they not be a top team, they'll be downright bad. It's only two starts, sure, but their #1 goalie gave up 5 in a start and then 6 in relief. I really have no idea how you can look at that team on paper, and tab them as opening favorites to win the Cup.

I forgot Cullen too, who put up 31 points last year which is pretty impressive for a 53 year old forward.

Also I think the loss of a quality backup in Fleury hurts them too especially since they replaced him with a mediocre backup. Do the Pens win either Cup, without Murray coming in relief of Fleury in 2016, or Fleury relieving Murray in 2017? Probably not.

Does it reallly matter what their record is? Buttface will find a way to rig it so they get into the playoffs.

I am not sold on Murray yet. I respect he’s played well enough to win a couple of cups, but don’t remember to many games where he was the difference.
