Arizona comes into the Garden winless in 9 games. If they beat the Mighty Rangers, does that seal av's fate?

Where things are with the Rangers in regards to the hot seat
Oct 25 | 7:42PM

https://www.sny.tv/rangers/news/where-things-are-with-the-rangers-in...

On NBCSN tonight, Bob McKenzie was asked about the Rangers and who might be on the hot seat:
•"There is no question, I think everybody. In New York, when the Rangers are playing this poorly, I think everybody from top to bottom, players, coach, manger, take your pick. There is no question that Alain Vigneault is getting a lot of the focal point here."
•"My take on the Rangers is simply this, they are disappointed that they haven't done better but they kinda think that if Henrik Lundqvist was a little better, if a couple of things were tweaked just a little bit, could we be a .500 team right now? Sure, we probably could, but they are not. .500 is a pretty low bar for a team that has had as many 100 point seasons recently as the Rangers."
•"While they are not as good as they hoped they would be, they are in that mode where the defense is questionable, they traded Stepan and center is a weak position. There are severe questions asked about this Rangers team to see, and I think management is looking at it. All I know is this, if this carries on for a long period of time, it's New York, something has to give and I would suggest a trade would happen before the coach would be on the hot seat."

Adam Rotter: I don't believe Alain Vigneault is on the hot seat...yet and I certainly do not think he is in any real danger of losing his job

Really Adam...Wow !

I can hear the chants already MES-SI-ER, MES-SI-ER, MES-SI-ER

I agree with Adam, AV will not be fired even if they lose to the Yotes.

I don't think he will be fired with a loss. But he'll be closer.

The extension he signed gives him a little slack. Management would be hesitant to sign him to an extension and then have to fire him 70 games later. Looks bad on everyone. Then again so does 2-6-2

His signing for that short a extension was a win for the Rangers. He was not entering this year on a expiring contract. They kept themselves out of a long term contract knowing double mint was reaching the expiration date all coaches do. it was a reward for services rendered and looks good on everyone and doesn't have any negative connotation when they fire his ass. It would have looked a lot worse not giving him some type of extension. In the world of recycled failures in the NHL he and his contract will be scooped up quickly by some other team.

The good news is the media is starting to talk about a coaching change. At least now there wouldn’t be as many Monday morning QB’s piling on Gorton for canning him. A ugly loss tonight would accelerate the process.

2 years (to me) is not a short extension. This would have been the final year of his contract.

Coach contracts are typically 3 years. I should have said Vigneault would not have been happy entering this season on a expiring contract, as it was his last season on his original contract.

After what he's done, it would have been fitting.

I overestimated. Figured extension was at about the ASG, which is usually about half. Rangers schedule must have been top heavy last year.

Only 54 games -
32 Reg season games
12 Playoff games
10 Reg season games (this year )

I dont care what anyone says, AV has done a lousy job of having this team prepared to start games. Not just this year either! This has been a trend now for a few years. His constant juggling of lines is the main reason that does dont get to gel. He even takes lines that ARE working and breaks them up hoping to get another line hot. He ABSOLUTELY wants nothing to do with newcomers and rookies. He's infatuated with Staal, sitting guys like D'Angelo, Holden, and Kampfer. He played Chytyl a total of 51/2 minutes and determined he wasnt ready despite not using him in situations the kid did very well in the preseason(PP). D'Angelo has either sat or was used less than 5 minutes a game, on this basis he was sent to Hartford. Duh!! Lets not get into the 11 forwards and 7 D line-ups. How the Fruk do lines build chemistry in that set-up??

Yet the Azzwipe calling the shots is doing just that still. It appears that he is here for much longer than this team can afford. I see this season heading right down the sh***er REAL fast. Settle in, its going to be a real rough season
