In the immortal words of the mayonnaise dumpster the Rangers won because Vesey scored.

Might have a point if it wasn't for the fact that The Rangers have done a lot of winning lately, regardless.

12 wins in the last 16 games

Nice to see the Rangers can hold it together, and win a game they had know right winning. Two games in a row they were losing in the third... No surprise the Rangers are winning ****tie games when Hanks on his "A" game.

It was nice to see them battle back from so so starts in both games. A very good sign.

Ok - you asked for it.

Yeah - sk4life40 hates Hank and hates McD. So McD's out and Rangers get 3 wins not because his replacement or his absence has made any kind of positive difference but because the other guy he hates (Hank) has been standing on his head for 3 games. So not a chirp from this jacka$$ about how well Hank has played, just that we're 3-0 minus our captain. very simplistic cause and effect thinking by a simple minded 'fan', who we all know wants the Rangers to lose anyway (see the bottom of Mandar's post for last season's quote of infamy by this "Ranger fan".

Face it - the Rangers getting 6 points in the last 3 is not because of the wondrous d-men Kampfer, Smith, Holden and Staal but in spite of them. I love Skjei and see him being our top d-man as soon as next season, but to continue to minimize what McD brings to the table is just stupid.

Pretty much that. How you hate Hank though is just moronic. He's old now but he's basically the only reason we have had hockey that was enjoyable the last 12+ years. As far as McDonagh goes. He can go in the right deal.

Henrik will be a lost chapter for a franchise that has 2 traditions, losing and disappointing its fan base. But hey he will have a jersey in the rafters so lets forget all about the chances he let slip through his fingers. Literally. All you fanboys need to lighten up.

Try doing some research you dumb bastard and actually see how many playoff games his team scored 4 or more goals in a game for him. Or for that matter, 3 or more goals in a playoff game for him. God you're stupid. Year they went to the finals and got screwed by the refs. Quick's team scored 4 or more goals for him 10 times. Hank's, one.

Ouch that hurt me. I watched him choke away multiple leads vs la kings in his only finals, watched him choke away a series vs nj to a 40 yr old marty, and then we had last yr and the yr before. Now yes they had problems scoring for him at times, but when the support was there he blew it. But lets do some research right?

I also love the hypocrisy of this board, i get grilled for saying we deserve to lose games when we turtle late n stop playing, but meanwhile mantards here want us to lose so the coach is fired. Makes a lot of sense.

Are you sure you watched those games? The games where he was given a lead to “choke away,” the Rangers were outshot,

43 to 27 (-16)
44 to 38 (-6)
51 to 30 (-21)

Average shooting percentage is about 9-10% so if you give up 9 more shots to the opposition you can reasonably expect to be scored on one more time. Now go back and look at the shot differentials in the games Hank “choked away” and explain how he can be blamed for any of them. If anything you should conclude that Hank kept us in games that should have been blowouts.

Im a Henrik basher too but lets look at the resume....2009 Playoffs vs the Caps...we blew a 3-1 lead.....2012 vs NJ we were up 2-1...G5 series tied at 2...NJ goes up 3-0 in the first 10 minutes...Rangers fight back and tie it up in the 3rd....Then the 4th line of NJ scores with 3 min left in the game...a corner pass out front thru Henriks crease that he didnt put a stick on...Then G6...we go down 2-0...fight back and tie it...1st minute of OT we lose.....2014 vs the Kings in the SCF...G1 G2 in LA we have 2 goal leads in both games and we lose both in OT....G3 we dominate the Kings but Quick was lights out and Henrik lets in the goals....G4 Kings dominated us but Henrik was lights out and we won....G5 we had the lead again and again we lost in OT... We deserved better in that series....2015 vs TB we get shutout at home in G5 and G7 ...Henrik gave up over 20 goals in that series....Last year vs Ott...G1 Karlsson shoots a puck from behind the goal line and banks it in of Henriks head with 2 min left...Can't let that happen....G2 we have a 2 goal lead....lose on OT G3 G4 we win...G5 we had a 2 goal lead again and lost in OT again....Its gotta be on Henrik somewhere sometime.

I can't understand how blame can be put on the goaltender for a team win or a team loss. If Lundqvist doesn't get a shutout, then every loss is his fault???

When The Rangers win, is it in spite of Lundqvist letting 2 by him?

Forget blown coverage by Klien... turnovers by Girardi. Bad bounces.... There are no excuses, it's Lundqvist's fault....

We should have kept Talbot instead, right? It's the same arguement as firing AV.... who are you going to get to replace him??? Is it fanboy of me to say there are no better options?

Of the 4 goalies who have played 21 games this season

Henrik Lundqvist
Frederik Andersen
Matt Murray
Cam Talbot

It's Lundqvist with the best GAA and sv% this year.

.922 career sv% in the playoffs is better then the great Marty with his .919... better than Roy and his .918

The guy is among the best to ever be. He doesn't have a Cup.... but if/when he gets one, there will be no questions. He needs the team trophy to be recognized for his individual efforts

I agree with Rob!!

Were there weak goals? sure! But what happened before the weak goal? Was there a chance to clear the puck, or was there a bad give away, or just a bad defensive breakdown? It's a team game, losses are on the team just as wins are!

I also don't think a player needs to win a championship to be considered one of the best players in his sport.

Marino, Sanders, Ted Williams....Just to name a few

Most all playoff series the Rangers have lost on Lundqvist's watch, have been team losses. Lundqvist's goaltending more often than not got them into the position to succeed. He has been a victim of lack of support as the Rangers went deeper into playoff rounds. So many times the Rangers could not generate the offense necessary to move on. And that's a talent thing. IMO Lundqvist has usually had the team on his back.

Rangers should of traded Henrik after they lost in the Finals....His value was thru the roof and we could of got assets to rebuild...instead the team gave him a 7 year albatross contract...That on top of trading Cally and 2 #1's away.....Mismanagement at its best

You would be one brave GM to trade a goalie largely responsible for getting to the finals during the following off season. At the time many thought the Rangers were capable of getting right back there the next season, which would make trading him job suicide for a GM.
Now at some point in time I’m all for getting as much as possible in a trade if there is a right time for the Rangers. The problem is the Rangers are never really out of it because of him. He’s still a franchise goalie and replacing him is almost impossible.
