Rangers BlogBlueshirt Banter

The Red Wings are on a 3-game losing streak and have just three wins in the month of December. They currently sit with the 4th worst record in the NHL and sit 11 points out of a playoff spot (haha). So yes, it’s over Red Wings fans, and it’s time to cheer for them to lose, at least from my perspective. Even if this team makes the playoffs (please don’t), they have no chance of making it out of Round 1. Losing means a better chance of Rasmus Dahlin, a better chance of Ken Holland being gone and a better chance of the young guys finally being given a shot. With the Rangers in town tonight, and then the Penguins on NYE, I can really get on board this whole losing train.

So let’s talk about those blue shirts. The Rangers are in 4th place in the Metro division, which has proven to be by far the toughest division in the NHL this year. They are only five points out of 1st, but also sit just three points up on a playoff spot. Already being, 2-1-1 in their last four games, New York has Detroit, Buffalo, Chicago and Arizona in their next four, which gives them the real chance to make up solid ground in the division.

Excited to see Lettieri play his first game tonight. Unfortunately, coach of the year will only play him about 6-8 minutes

Wings play chippy, sometimes physical. Usually they try to match the Rangers with skating and passing, and the game becomes a boring soccer match. 2 to 1 or 1 to 0 with OT or a shootout is the norm with these teams.

Watched the Kings play Vegas last night. Gallant has VGK playing intense, aggressive hockey. Him and McPhee did an awesome job drafting players of a certain type and putting a system in place that fits their personnel. They play physical and they take away time and space like few teams I’ve seen this year. It’s a team that is fun to watch and gets their home crowd revved up. So much different that AV’s crew.

Another slow, uninspired start by AV’s team. Time for more line juggling I guess. .

Once again, Nash is the only one with some fire in his game. Besides Henrik.

The defense looks soft and easy to play against. Again.

Meanwhile, John Moore, former Ranger, is throwing hits and playing solid defense for the Devils. Hmmm, wonder what caused his game to change since he left.

From game to game you don't know which Rangers team will show up. This game the team that is still on vacation, let's let the goalie do all the work.

Hayes Grabner Miller is the only line that looks effective. AV will break them up in the 2nd period. Nash with jump again tonight.

Lettieri has about 85 seconds of ice time so far.

Nash must have had a few extra protein shakes over the break, he looks the strongest he's been in forever

Hopefully he is priming himself for a trade to a contender so we can get some stuff back for him

One of my secretaries gave me this delicious bottle of Cabernet that I’ve opened for this game.

Sub-zero temps, Rangers hockey and a fine bottle of vino. And no work tomorrow! Life is good.

FYI....Winnipeg playing the isles tonight.....the Jets are really fun to watch. You can watch your boy Trouba play...he's had a bad first period, but the Jets forwards are sooooo good (even without Scheifle).

This year, Trouba has been their version of Holden....disappointing.

Yeah, Holden a bit too casual there, but it was quite the play by Athanasiou too. Detroit had no life before that goal, now all over the Rangers
