Adam Rotter: I expect that the Rangers will re-sign Rick Nash but there are questions about the term and cap hit. He will certainly make less than he is this season and I think it's doubtful the Rangers would go past three years for him. So I think ultimately it's three-year deal worth somewhere between $4 and $5 million with some form of no-trade protection.

In any situation the Rangers would get one of their best players, best leaders and mentors back for a price that will likely more resemble his potential production. He's still Rick Nash and that name will always carry some level of expectation with it, but I believe his next contract with the Rangers will be more in line with him being a two-way player and not an offensive force.

He was never an offense force here. That's way too much money for a glorified Jasper Fast. Trade him or let him go!!

Same production as Kevin Hayes so far this year

Both have 9g 8a 17pts in 40 gp

So for 4-5 million you get a 2 way 15-25 goal scorer

Definately don't let him walk for nothing....

Sign him without the no trade, and it's fine

If Gorton can manage to pull off another Gomez/McDonagh trade, I don't see the Rangers getting much for him. Hell, if they managed to get half of what they gave up, they'd be lucky.

With the cap now its more important than ever that you build your team through the draft....thats how you get a Noah Hannafin, Zack Werenski etc....Not giving your #1's away for old players...stupid stupid stupid

Nick Ra$h.....sick and tired of the chatter about this joke of a " power " forward. $8 million per season? Guy has gotten over $100 million from the NHL. Someone was/is nuts.

That would be Columbus...who were the ones that signed him to that contract. At the time, he was their entire centerpiece, and thought of as a premier power forward. Lets not pretend that the player he is now was the same as he was when he signed the Columbus deal. And every team in the NHL would have signed him for that cash back then.

You may not like what he has become the past couple of years, but he was certainly thought of by the NHL as a star....and someone that Canada always wanted to play for their Olympic teams. Again, you can moan about his salary now (cap hit of 7.8M, which is more important) because that's what happens in many long term deals, but the guy was a top forward for quite a few years.

Sorry to disagree but he has hardly measured up to the hype since coming to MSG, in spite of his couple of good years, imo. Never came thru when it counted most.

Too bad none of those "top forward" days occurred in NY.

I remember the home game during the 2011-12 season, when Nash scored the lone goal for Columbus, and the fans chanting “WE DONT WANT YOU.” Should have listened to the fans.

I was at a Jackets/Rangers game before one of the deadlines when everyone thought a trade was imminent....Nash was basically invisible that game and the crowd turned on him chanting "We Don't Need You". I think the trade took place the next season.

Same fans cheered for players like Purinton & McIlrath.....fans don't always have the solution.

I like Nash, the critical issue is the cost in cash and his role going forward. Priced as a third line forward and the right linemates and he could be a steal. Rangers either get him for their price or he's gotta be moved. They can't afford many more Yandle type deals of scraps just before the july 1 frenzy.

There is no amount of money in the world that makes Nash "a steal".

Right Now he scoring relative to a third liner. If he accepts a third line salary he’s a steal.

I would think that trading him should be option one.. but I would not be against resigning him.. but 8 million ^%$# NO.... 4 million I personally still think is too much but the truth is some team will give him it... I think a 3 million-3.5 would be where he would sit... and I am mixed emotions on that he has worked very hard and not much pay off.. but I would not be surprised if they sign him for the 4-5 million...

If he accepts another contract from the Rangers, HE'S the one stealing. He's not worth a third-line salary either.

If they offered him 1.5 million than maybe. That is what a good, 4th line player should be paid which is what he is.

Rather than resign Nash.. and I do not love him.. but I do not hate him... but take that cash and take a shot at James Van Reimsdyck.. .He is a UFA at year end and would be handy to have.. will be under the 8 mil Nash makes which leaves some cash left over to get a guy like Bozak as well for the fourth line centre spot... maybe 3rd.

Love Jersey boy JVR, but I know folks on here will hate him, call him soft, etc, etc. NDTP teammate Shattenkirk will let him know how a local boy who grew up a Ranger fan is trashed from day one. Not saying Shattenkirk is playing well at all - just that he was being bad-mouthed before he even stepped on the ice in the Ranger sweater

I'm also not defending Shatt here but which of our defensemen isn't playing terrible under AV? I will no longer judge these guys until our coach is gone. He is making all of them look awful.

He was never great in his own end, but he wasn't this. He's making Girardi look good and the guy couldn't even skate. Campfire looks to be as good(or bad) as anyone else they put out there. That is scary.

Take the six best defensemen in the league and put them on the Rangers. AV will turn them all into pumpkins within 6 weeks.

Shattenkirk the more you watch him has slow feet. He’s not a guy that moves much at top speed. To put it bluntly he’s lazy. He needs to pick up his personal speed and tempo doing things, maybe he can’t or won’t I don’t know, but if he doesn’t, it doesn’t matter who’s coaching he will be the same plug.
