Rangers (27-26-5, 59 pts) at Senators (20-27-9, 49 pts)
2 pm; Canadian Tire Centre; Ottawa
MSG Network; ESPN 98.7 FM

The Game

The Rangers hit the road for an afternoon matchup in Ottawa against the Senators on Saturday.

New York is coming off a 50-shot performance Thursday night in a 3-0 loss to the Islanders in Brooklyn, the team's second defeat in as many games.

There's good news and bad news on the injury front for the Rangers, as forward Pavel Buchnevich will return after missing seven games with concussion symptoms, though Kevin Hayes is questionable after not practicing on Friday.

Goaltender Alexandar Georgiev was slated to get the start against the Senators but came down with the flu, thus giving way to Henrik Lundqvist to make his fourth straight start. Paul Carey will return to the lineup after Vinni Lettieri was assigned to Hartford to make room for goaltender Brandon Halverson, who will serve as the backup.

The teams have split the first two meetings of the season, with the home team winning each time. Ottawa enters tonight's game second from the bottom in the Eastern Conference, and have gone 5-5 over the last 10 games.

The Senators made a splash on the trade market earlier this week, acquiring former Ranger Marian Gaborik as part of a package that sent defenseman Dion Phaneuf to the Los Angeles Kings.

Mark Stone leads the club with 18 goals and 47 points, followed by Mike Hoffman's 39 points in 56 games. Defenseman Erik Karlsson leads the club with 39 34 assists, and has 39 points in 51 games.

Goaltender Craig Anderson is 16-17-5 with a .903 SV% and a 3.17 GAA in 42 games thus far.

Players to Watch

Mika Zibanejad has enjoyed playing against his former team. The center has goals in both of the games he's faced against the Senators since his arrival in New York in the summer of 2016.

Gaborik made a strong first impression with his new club following his trade earlier this week to Canada's capital city. The former Blueshirt had a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Rangers Lines from Friday

Rick Nash - Mika Zibanejad - Mats Zuccarello
Michael Grabner - J.T. Miller - Pavel Buchnevich
Jimmy Vesey - David Desharnais - Jesper Fast
Paul Carey - Peter Holland - Cody McLeod

Nick Holden - Tony DeAngelo
Brady Skjei - Neal Pionk
John Gilmour - Ryan Sproul

Inside the Numbers

The Blueshirts have earned at least one point in 11 of their last 16 regular season contests on the road against Ottawa, dating back to Jan. 10, 2009 (10-5-1 record).

Rangers overload one side again on D and Oduya gets an open shot for the goal. That is an example of the great AV d that they are coaching.

Sure, JT certainly has skills, but his stupidity will always get in the way.

Better offensive guys? Easily....Nash, Buch, Zucc, Ziba, Hayes.....

We get it, you don't like JT....Of course he makes boneheaded plays BUT everyone on your list does..

Your list, even though it's wrong in my opinion still puts him closer to the top of offensive players than the bottom. So, to say "not even close" is just not accurate.

Rick Nash is gone at the deadline. Every one in the room knows that. Why is stupid using him to kill penalties instead of playing a replacement that is going to have to do it when Nash is gone anyways. Is a coach managing team assets prudent to do that and risk Nash getting hurt blocking shots. Or is he just stupid.

Rangers beat again as they overload one side and Miller fails to control that intense, huge Brassard who hangs in the crease for a tap in from the open side 2-4
