Because it is all about valuing assets to me. I may not have an issue with the individual players, I would have taken Wahl or one of the dmen over Kravtsov, but Krav looks like he has good upside so he could be very good. Issue is the value though. Could have traded down and gotten him. Didn't have to deal a 2nd to move up 4 spots. And now take a goalie ranked WAY lower than where we took him. If you like him TRADE DOWN and get him, get more assets.

Makes it appear as if Gorton has no clue how to value assets correctly. But hey, we have our own crazy board...that usually works out well. They had Krav as their 2nd rated forward, if so trade down a few spots.

I get what you're saying, but, it is assuming that by trading down that Kravastov would still be on the board. Rangers must have felt that he would be gone if they traded down

Did we trade Hayes, Buch, Vesey, Zuc and Skjei for EK yet?

So,

If he was high on their board, and he's had some success for Sweden, and they view him as a possible starting goalie, why is it embarrassing?

Hard to be embarrassed about something I know nothing about.

If he doesn't pan out to be a starting goalie, this makes no real sense to me, though. Shestyorkin isn't even here yet, and we're already restocking? Because goalies typically take longest to develop. Lots of talented skaters on the board at that spot.

Right now it looks like we are going to have some VERY long years ahead. Passed on Kovy. We are not going to deal a ton for EK, and rightfully so. I have no clue what this team will look like, but it appears many lean years coming up. Wonder if any conversations are had soon with Hank. And wonder why you wouldn't deal Zucc as well, why keep him. And we have all those RFA's still. We are going to long for the past 6 years or so the next handful of years I fear.

I say again...value your assets properly please Gorton/Clark. You are reaching for guys WAY too early and getting nothing extra while reaching. And then you deal a valuable pick in the 40's to go from 26 to 22. Meanwhile the Blues deal a pick in the 70's to make the same jump. Just awful asset value regardless of the players panning out or not.

Another defenseman.... also doesn't make sense to me. Kravtsov is now our only forward taken

BUT it's another Swede (born in California.... hope that's American enough for Mike)

You can play with 15 dmen on your team right? Doesn't there have to be some sort of trade coming? We have tons of dmen, tons of RFA's, and few higher end forwards. Something has to happen...no?

I am told (though not by agent or NYI) that Tavares will meet with five teams during interview period that opens tomorrow. Rangers are not among them.
