Mikita is the Blackhawks’ all-time franchise leader in points (1,467) and games played (1,394). He was a four-time Art Ross Trophy winner and a Stanley Cup champion (1961).

Also notably changed game by wearing helmet and "discovering" the curved stick.

Don't think Mikita was the one who changed the game by wearing a helmet

It has to be some form of irony, then, that after making the game more dangerous for goalies, Mikita popularized a trend that would make it safer for skaters by wearing a helmet.

He might not have been the first to wear one, but he was the biggest star in the United States to wear one, and he wore the most notable bucket.

As a result of suffering a concussion, Mikita designed a helmet that looked like a spaceship landed on his head. He started a company that began producing them, and was helping to change the game again.
