All-Star Posts: 1150 ![]() | Rangers fans have trashed every defenseman on the team for years. It's pretty much all they do. They never blame the offense. Staal was about the only decent defenseman last year. He's still solid. That being said, Gorton should have moved him and let Hajek play who is NHL ready. Have to laugh at the countless know it all posters on this board who spent days making it seem like Vesey was worthless because of the stupid pre-season. He was the best forward on the ice by a lot.

When’s the last time that happened. Kevin Hayes the animal had 4 and that’s not a typo, yes 4 hits. . The other thing I noticed and it spells trouble for Namestnikov if he doesn’t smarten up. . When Quinn gave him the tap to serve the to many men on the ice penalty Namestnikov might have muttered something or it was the fact it was evident he didn’t like getting picked to serve the penalty, but it was plain as day Quinn did not like his reaction to being picked because Quinn was giving him the darts as he skated to the penalty box. That **** doesn’t fly with any coach and I would not be suprised if he was sat against Buffalo. Very interesting observation...I missed that.

All-Star Posts: 1150 ![]() | This fan base trashes every defenseman on the team so much that pretty much all the fans from other teams think they are the worst defenseman group in the league. Girardi played 18 minutes a game for the Lightning last year in the playoffs. If you have a moronic defensive system AV's, it's hard to look good as a defenseman.

![]() Publisher Posts: 68451 ![]() Location: USA | Overall I thought the Rangers did fairly well given the situation. I liked that they didn't fold/give up, and although they were tentative at first, I thought they started to skate well after the first TV time-out when Quinn got them together. Certainly room for improvement, and Lundqvist isn't going to be able to play like that all season, but some promising signs. Don't like the idea that Namestnikov has attitude problems, will hurt his relatively limited trade value if it's the case, so let's hope they can work something out there. I am still concerned that Lettieri is a bit of a defensive liability, as much as I like his offense...if he doesn't figure out the defensive side, then I think he's not long for the league.

I think Lettieri is ultimately is a shuttle guy I like Lettieri and like the idea of Beleskey replacing Namestnikov on the fourth line. Namestnikov is as talented skill wise as any Ranger. If he’s not going to use that skill to the max then get rid of him. He’s exhibiting all the signs of a self entitled first line player. If he’s not prepared to work to show he should play up the lineup then get rid of him. You don’t need attitudes like that in the mix Quinn is trying to create. If Namestnikov doesn’t figure it out it will be the old addition by subtraction. Beleskey had a little offensive pop earlier in his career, that could be a pretty gritty fourth line.

MVP Posts: 8880 ![]() Location: 17 miles from MSG | The Rangers level of compete was excellent. They actually finished checks instead of skating away from contact. The D look way better as there was not many 5-5 "power play" situations in the Rangers end. They did not chase the puck around until somebody lost their man as they did in the last few seasons. They did let a lot of 2 on 1s happen due to missed coverage or a bad change. I think Lettieri needs time to figure out the d coverages. Chytil was not engaged on every shift, but then you see the perfect feed to Fast for the goal and you are reminded of the talent. I did not see the Namestnikov stuff with the penalty at the end, but I thought he played ok, being that he is on a line with 2 rookies. Overall - there was good effort and, while a loss sucks, they were fun to watch. If they can maintain this kind of effort every night, they will be in the hunt for the last playoff spot.

Rookie Posts: 214 ![]() | He apparently did not like being chosen to sit in the box for the too many men penalty. What I want to know is how did we send out 7 men on the ice? Seriously, they are trying to tie the game in the last two minutes, get a delayed penalty then "HEY, LETS PUT 7 OUT THERE........wtf????

Scorer Posts: 659 ![]() | robstones - 2018-10-05 1:15 PM Belesky for Names. I'm in on that. From what I saw last night, definitely. McQuaid was solid and gives the rest of the team some edge in their own zone. I saw the Preds actually pull up near Henrik and back off when challenged by the Rangers. Pionk is remarkably steady for a young player. Skjei will get better at jumping up on offense as he gets comfortable with McQuaid, I see 10 goals for Skjei this season. Staal will play a quiet steady game. Hajek may get some time if Shattenkirk continues to underwhelm. Lettieri, Howden and Vesey will produce goals. Lettieri and Howden will have slumps as most rookies do, but overall they will give the Rangers scoring chances, energy and some grit in front of the opponent's net. Will be fun to watch under this coach. ****ing Frodo had better start shooting when he's got quality looks. One game into the season and I want to choke the son of a bitch.
