You are trying to keep up with this team & the refs don't call anything on this team. Hard enough to beat TB, impossible to beat TB and the Refs Wouldn’t be surprised if Quinn gets his first NHL fine tonight. He looks ready to go medieval on these asshole refs. I listened to the interview, he stayed away from commenting on refs. That's what I'm saying these are the types of games you wish Torts was still coach! :-)

Those Stamkos goals were snipes.... nothing Henrik or anyone else can do about those. Rangers lacked the talent, and got discouraged in the 2nd period... but the classless diving by Tampa left a bad taste in my mouth. The Rangers' rebuild isn't over until they have at least one top talent on offense like Stamkos, and a top talent on D like Hedman Kravtsov and Miller may be that.... either way, till those type of top tier players are added, The Rangers will just be "a hard team to play against"

Are DQ and JG on the same page? Look at TB kids...they have kids playing well now that they took in mid rounds....Stevie Y knows what he is doing....

MVP Posts: 5713 ![]() | The lifeblood of today's NHL teams is the draft, and second to that is the development of those drafted players, including knowing when prospects are ready to move up. No more buying teams. The Rangers to be kind haven't exactly moved many through the process to the NHL. Most have been traded for or signed as free agents, and for the most part those players required a small amount of minor league play. With the talent Gorton has acquired now in Hartford and still Amateurs the clock and magnifying glass are on. Time will tell, they appear to have a coach who appears to be trying to have success now while also keeping an eye on down the road doing a pretty good job of getting some young guys contributing this year. We will see how good a job McCambridge is doing in Hartford when Hajek, Lindgren, and Crawly and company come to camp next year. If at least two don't kick the door down then let the second guessing begin.

Scorer Posts: 917 ![]() | I'm a big Fast fan but playing him 16 minutes a game and Andersson 11 is not how you rebuild. This GM and coach still have not committed to a rebuild. Howden has had one point in his last 9 games. Yet, he plays a lot more. Hopefully, Gorton will get his head out of his ass and trade Staal, Shattenkirk, Smith and Zucc if he can. Staal should be fairly easy to move now if he eats a little salary. He's playing well. Shatt will probably have to be 50% retained. Same with Smith. I'd like to see them get rid of all three and go with the following the rest of the year. Kreider-Zibanejad-Chytil Buchnevich-Hayes-Vesey Namestnikov-Strome-Andersson Belesky-Lafontaine-Fast Hajek-Pionk Lindgren-Skjei Bigras-DeAngelo McQuaid Edited by itsmcilrathtime 2018-12-11 10:46 AM

Scorer Posts: 917 ![]() | I would be in full tank mode the rest of the year. The only reason Gorton is allowing Quinn to play 4 or 5 of these vets is because he's hoping to get picks at the deadline. The flip side of that is he's screwing over kids and not giving them playing time. I don't even know if he could deal Smith at this point he's so awful most games. He may have to trade a player like Namestnikov and make the team take Smith with him. At this point, a buyout of Smith has to be on the table. I would suspect if they can't dump him they buyout him out at the end of the season. Edited by itsmcilrathtime 2018-12-12 2:08 AM

MVP Posts: 5713 ![]() | Tanking does not sit well with the 18,000 that paid big money to watch. The kids would be here if they were ready. Is Gorton really holding them back because he likes watching Smith, Shattenkirk, screwing up most nights they are playing? Sucking up cap space? If there is a will there is a way to move them. More probable is the reasoning the prospects are in a environment allowing them to put the finishing touches on preparedness for future NHL success, because they have not reached that point in their development YET. Defense is a lot harder to play, with mistakes usually making highlight reels with no place for kids to hide. Its understandable by most anyone, defensemen take longer to develop in order to have success under the intense scrutiny of every mistake resulting in opposition scoring opportunities. Expect a significant switch in personnel next season, hopefully after Gorton has moved out both Smith and Shattenkirk. At that point in time Staal, Pionk, Lindgren, Hajek, Claesson, DeAngelo, Skjei and even McQuaid looks pretty close to what it might be. With McQuaid and Claesson always subject to being moved, for other options. .

Absolutely no reason for buyouts. It's not like the Rangers need the cap space for a run. Get these salaries off the books in the least amount of years possible. Trade where you can or let them sit in the minors or the pressbox.

That's what I'm saying these are the types of games you wish Torts was still coach! :-) Torts didn't start ripping refs in post-game interviews until he had been in the league a bit. He really get into it after he won the Cup in Tampa. Point is, give Quinn some time. He's not even halfway through his first NHL season behind the bench. He looks like a guy that can cut into a ref during the game with a few choice words, and then make some sharp comments after the game. He just needs some more time under his belt.

Tapma's goalie made keys stops when his team needed them, especially in the 3rd period. I'm not complaining about the team, in fact I'm complimenting how well they played against an elite team that is built to win this season.

The low team salary structure is a by product of a rebuild. Now is the time to buyout or take on %’s of traded players salaries under the assumption it will be off the books by the time the team salary structure starts to increase equating to the teams rise in the standings and players deserving more money, and the teams needing the cap space to compensate.
