The reasons you list explain why you keep McQuaid. a new contract for him won't break the bank. Lets agree its doubtful his trade return will be anything more than a peripheral roster player, or third round pick tops, type of thing .

If that's the return then sure, keep him. Perhaps I'm optimistic but I think there will be an 11th hour bidding war and he'll return much more, in the way of futures, than a peripheral player or a third. His pending UFA status is valuable to playoff teams, but has no value in itself to the Rangers.

I don't think I'm overestimating McQuaid's ability, I think you're underestimating the desperation of opposing GMs.

As I've stated I'd be more interested in moving Shattenkirk and Smith for what ever futures might be available and in reality moving them for anything, just to dump them. May as well have callups with potential playing instead of them. And as mentioned try to sell McQuaid on a two year deal, if he doesn't want to sign, its bye bye. Hopefully the Rangers would be smart enough not to get boxed in with to much trade control on his end. Then hes still a chip down the road but in the meantime he brings a edge the Rangers badly need.

Yeah, cause no 24-25 year old player has ever played in the NHL, had a short good stretch then sucked. I can't believe you are this retarded. You sound like you're 15. Whacking off over a 14 game stretch. Plus the asswipe already has a history of concussions. Not to mention he wasn't even a good scorer in college. However, by all means, continue to think he's this rare dope that blossoms at 25. My guess is that Gorton will jump for joy if he can dump him in a package deal for a legit prospect. He hasn't even been a good scorer at the AHL level.

Wait, NO 24-25 year old NHL player had a short good stretch then sucked, EVER??? Are you sure about that? maybe you want to delete that?

When did I ever say that Nieves is having a great 14 games stretch? All I said is that RIGHT NOW he's better than Lias. And unfortunately for you his numbers prove it.

And you're probably right Gorton would probably jump at putting him in a package for a legit prospect, but, he'd do the same with Lias....

Do you really think 32 points is bad for a 4th line guy? Seriously??

you simpleton you

Pronman is not a big fan of Nils or Barron or Adam Fox

His name was out there last trade deadline and we will never know if he was in fact available. If he wasn’t no problem. If he was and a team looking to beef up their defense didn’t think he was worth a Steve Kampfer a fourth and a seventh, then I’d say there is not much value there. That’s all the Ranger put up last fall to acquire him. It’s common knowledge most teams like to get a guy with a extra year left in trade deadline deals, if the finances work, it’s more bang for their deadline deals. So I’d say it’s possible his value to the Rangers will exceed his trade value. The Rangers very well could have a kiddy core next season and need some veteran stability back there. Staal and McQuaid can supply that. And if McQuaid can be had on a two year contract, he can still be flipped at next years trade deadline. In the meanwhile he brings some snarl and veteran prescence on what could be a very young group next season.

According to several imbeciles here, based off of the team playing one real good game for the first time in a month, we now have rising studs in Nieves and DeAngelo. LMAO. I hope Gorton cleans house. Only players he should keep for sure that have seen pro time are Chytil, Andersson, Kreider, Howden and maybe Skjei. Everybody else can go in the right deal.
