You get tired of saying, a good effort. Maloney is right at some point good efforts have to be result in wins. The players start thinking when are we going to be rewarded.

Next season!

I'm afraid too many Rangers fans are too optimistic for next season. They piled up pics, these are pics, the draft is like gambling, really is. Stefan #1 over all, Robitaille 9th rnd pick, etc... I see some young talent & promise, I don't see any Ovies, Crosbys, Kanes or the likes.

Best bet at the table on draft day is to see the TSN BPA rankings are and go from there....keep collecting kids.....Our on ice lineup now has 12 1st rounders in it

They pre-emptively dealt their captain away in the Zuccarello trade. Right now I don't see anyone deserving, based on on-ice performance. I like Kreider but I don't see his play being consistent enough to warrant a C, let alone a letter. Closest at this point is probably Mika, good consistent effort, seems to be well liked, but the next captain needs to take it to another level still. So I am fine with rotating the A for a while until they figure it out.

That 99 draft was bizarre - two first rounders hit 1000 NHL games played (Sedins) and then no other players from that draft at all except two others... late seventh rounders (Zetterberg and Havlat)

Rangers have a lot of picks this next year but they need to find more elite talent in the second round, that Bergeron or a Kucherov. They can't depend solely on their own first rounder which may barely be a top 10 pick. Without that elite young talent they'll never be a real contender. Or they could stop racking up the loser points and find a way to draft in the top 5. Or win the lottery. Whatever method they need to find the talent.

Even though Kreider is a "veteran" on this team, I think no way he should be the captain, I know he's got talent and him being captain has been discussed before. He just takes too many nights off. This young team needs a captain thats a voice in the room but also leads by example in practice, preparation, and in the actual games themselves. Kreider does not do this, unfortunately....

The guy you just described is ..... Zibanejad.

99 went down as 1 of the worse drafts ever.
Kucherov is a top 3 player in the league. Bergeron is 1 of the top all-around players ever. That's a tough call.
It is true though the Rangers must walk away with 2-3 NHLers from this draft, NHLers, a superstar is a bonus.
