We won the Stanley Cup ,Mike.
Nothing beats that.
Smith trading for Kurrie (so?) was his dumbest move and just exposed him how inept he was hockey wise.

True, they went for it & did it. He had to do it, I have NO problem with this. What Smith did AFTER is what did him in. The trades he made to win the Cup, no one will challenge. Then, he lost his mind, & tried to save his job with a quick fixes that actually did him in & he never landed another job.

100%!

Those “after” trades were the most atrocious ones!
Losing Nystrom(sp?) was unrealistic but yet it happened!

Enough with Smith. Had this conversation like 12 times. How about the current Smith? Do we buy him out? Keep him? What about Staal and Shattenkirk? They are untradeable. Need to make room for Lidgren, Hajek, Rykov and Fox.

Definitely need to make some room. Out of the three I'd want to move Shattenkirk Smith and Staal and in that order. Staal is costing the least damage by his presence and is just to much money to buy out. Smith had a little value to the lineup last season, just nowhere near worthy to of his ridiculous contract the Rangers gave him. But to big a difference on dollar value and return and he needs to go. Shattenkirk is the biggest drag on this team he has to go no matter what. Do what you have to do Gorton.

I don't like to talk about the past, it is the past, it is what it is. I like to concentrate on the future of things. At the time what I didn't understand is why Smith was doing what he was doing, it was still a good team just needed some adjustments. Or, at least he should have done what they are doing now, that would be fine also. It was very puzzling why he started on that dead end road & just kept digging his own grave he can't possibly get out of, but that's in the past.

I'd love to have a top pair of

Skjei Trouba

for the next handful of seasons... two 2012 1st round USA defenders

They can have their 20th overall back + Vesey + Pionk

Skjei Trouba
Staal Fox
Hajek DeAngelo

With Lindgren waiting for Staal to retire or be traded or an injury to happen

No doubt. Miller and Lundkvist working their way through the system, too.

I don't see Staal going anywhere just yet, but wouldn't be mad if it happened

And where is Shattenkirk? He may be here for one more year.

Either way him or TDA on the 3rd pair is a good D. And I like your Trouba offer. # 20, Vesey, Pionk, and a decent prospect I'd also be willing to add. No Buch, no Lias, and no Lundkvist.

Shattenkirk is a goner...buyout or trade...Who is your top pair? who's 2nd pair? You would rather have Lias then Trouba?
