I'm a PM working on the relocation project for the NHL, moving from 6th Ave to 1 Manhattan West. I was at their 6th Ave location talking to a couple of NHL decision makers. We started talking hockey, so I said to them, "if the NHL could do me one favor, please broadcast the Traverse City tournament." They both looked at me like I had 2 heads. They had no idea what I was talking about.

Just an FYI, the building's beautiful. Another glass giant, but the curved corners are nice. 1 block from MSG and across the street from the new Penn Sta. We're doing 4 floors for the NHL. Haven't met anyone noteworthy... yet.

We’re not even halfway through at HY. I’ll be there another 6 years.

Furniture. We’re the last ones in and get all the blame.

I could care less about Traverse this year. Most all of our best, young talent will make the team this year or play for the Pack. Probably the most excited I've been on the Rangers since they went to the finals.

You really don't care? Gotta disagree numbnuts. They won the championship in 2007, and some of the leaders on that team became part of the core group of a pretty good team. We've got to build a winning pedigree, and these tournaments help. This years team looks pretty good. Kappo, Kravtsov, Shesty, Fox, Keane to name a few. If they do anything less than dominate, it will be a disappointment.

This tournament means nothing assgoblin. Our best prospects would be wasting their time here. Kakko, Kravtsov, Rykov, Lundkvist and Reaunen have been playing against men. Fox has been playing against older competition in college. Same with Miller. Neither needs to be at this tournament. Same for Barron. So, essentially, the players at this tournament are all young kids that are 3-4 years away if they make the team. The team will be loaded with top, young talent this year. Your 2007 comparison was beyond stupid. Back then the team was completely void of young talent at the time. That is not the case here. The organization also didn't have prospects like Kravtsov and Kakko who were elite talents already playing against men.

I think the Traverse City tourney is a bit of a crapshoot to be honest. These teams hardly know each other, the players on the teams don't generally know each other well, they haven't even played together before....so success seems to be as much a case of luck as any kind of strategy. That said, I think it's possible for individuals to get a bump as a result of a good tourney.

Its another read on players for management to digest, the calibre is pretty good. Going in the Rangers should be looking to have a very good tournament with the lineup they have. Coaches are not going to reinvent the wheel. You give a team a basic gameplan and let them buck. No excuse for this level of players to not be able to perform to expectations, and within the limited gameplan. Thats a skill needed to play in the NHL. Management is focused on who can and who can't. Rangers should be a frontrunner. more than a couple players that should dominate. Having big expectations for their group and individual players in this tournament is a good thing and a tougher bar to reach, than just show up and have a decent individual tournament. The scrutiny will come if they don't have a good tournament.
