RANGERS (1-0-0) at SENATORS (0-1-0)

7 p.m. ET; CITY, MSG, NHL.TV

The Game

The New York Rangers will try to start their season with consecutive wins for the first time in four years when they play the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday.

The Rangers defeated the Winnipeg Jets 6-4 at Madison Square Garden in their season opener on Thursday. The last time they won their first two games was 2015-16, when they started 3-0-0.

Alexandar Georgiev will be in goal for the Rangers; he was 14-13-4 with a 2.91 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 33 games (30 starts) last season.

Forward Scott Sabourin, who was born in Orleans, Ontario, 20 minutes from Ottawa, will play in his first home game for the Senators. He scored a goal in his NHL debut Wednesday, a 5-3 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Players to watch

Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad had four points (one goal, three assists) against the Jets.

Senators forward Brady Tkachuk scored a goal and had six hits against the Maple Leafs.

They said it

"I thought maybe too often our forwards would leave our [defensemen] a little bit on an island in our end from a breakout standpoint [on Thursday]. But those are things we worked on today. I think we'll be better across the board [tonight]." -- Rangers coach David Quinn

"[The Rangers] have a lot of guys that are putting up offense already, right out of the gates. Mika [Zibanejad] had a strong game [on Thursday]. And they can skate, so we're going to have to try to take away time and space and not let their [defensemen] get involved in the rush, as well, because they seemed to get up ice in that first game pretty good." -- Senators forward Bobby Ryan

Stat pack

Trouba (one goal, two assists) and Panarin (one goal, one assist) each had multi-point games in their Rangers debut on Thursday.

Some fans might have been, but I think there were also a number who liked the idea of getting younger....still, this is a remarkable sequence

I agree most were disappointed losing Brassard, but saw the youthful potential in Zibanejad.

Brassard fit right in, he had his best seasons with the Rangers. Z took time to mature, there were rumors of a lot of partying, late night drinking in Ottawa.

This line is sick right now, it is amazing how sometimes players just click. But, as we all know, it takes more than 1 line, let's see some others pick ups the scoring as the season progresses.

Oh yeah, not much to complain about when it comes to Gordon & what he has done so far. Back in the day THN listed him as an up & coming next GM, many teams contacted Rangers for his availability.

Yes, there's been few chances for the other lines so far...although 5 of the 10 goals scored so far have been on special teams

It is nice to see a PP that produces goals, the best way to prevent other teams taking advantage & liberties which what was happening for years now. You think long & hard before putting a team on the PP.

Right now, Zibanejad leads in points, assists and plus/minus. The Rangers also lead in PP% and Georgiev is tied for best GAA. Probably not going to be that way in a few days, but fun to look at

Strome sucks. I'd like to see Gorton make a deal way before the deadline for a legit, second line center. Otherwise, Kakko will be screwed.

It is early yet. Kakko has had some good close in chances off Strome feeds. Watching Kreider continue to skate by the d and then shoot the puck into the goalie's pads as he enters his 7th full season is cringe worthy. He has had a couple of these so far in the 2 games with no goals.

I think we just need a center on that line. The rest of the line will be fine. I'd try Lias - what's to lose?

Kakko needs to be on the first line. He's a lot more important to this future than Buchnevich. Either Howden or Lias should be the second line center. No point putting Strome there. Or do this.

Got a feeling San Jose is going to suck it this year. Thought that before the season started. Maybe Gorton can pull off a monster deal for a player like Hertl.
