Not sure how that wasn’t a penalty on Staal.

close call, he was not on top of the boards, but then the Vet Staal takes a 2 minute penalty. He needs to sit on the press box.

He went head first into the boards, very dangerous, but just more inconsistent reffing so far this year.

That number one line shift was pathetic, total chaos in their own end.

How much longer does Anderson have with the big boys?

Another 8 minute game for him and I don't remember seeing him at all in the 3rd. Switch him and Chytil, at least Chytil has some offense.

How much longer does Quinn and the coaching staff have left? JD might get and NHL coach and staff sooner rather than later. The idea that Ruff is the x and o guy is laughable.

Andersson has been playing pretty well in his 8 minutes.

Where did Ruff is the X And O’s guy come from? I agree it’s laughable, Quinn sets the strategy, it’s on him, assistants follow orders from the boss Quinn. Not much is going right on the ice, largely because there is a serious lack of coordinated effort. Another no show.

I do think JD will have a pretty short leash. Maybe he will use Ruff as the example that he means business.

They played great in the 3rd period, just couldn't get ot done.

Chytil should be up with the big team. Howden should be the 4th line center, and Andersson should be given more time.

Go to the lineup he wanted to start the season with, before he sent Chytil down.

Panarin Zibanejad Buchnevich
Kreider Chytil Kakko
Lemiuex Andersson Fast
Smith Howden Strome

The defense hasn't been the greatest, but just hit the rest button. The start ofthe season was great! Need to get back to that good feeling and just forget these first 6 games.... Fresh start for everyone. The season starts next game, and everyone better come out with a winning mentality.

Skjei Trouba
Staal Fox
Hajek DeAngelo

Lundqvist
Georgiev

The message needs to be confidence and perseverance. That is the attitude of champions.

Really hope they don't hit the panic button

It is not just the D, it is team D, forwards have to come back & pick up their men, good teams play good team D.

The Canucks were wore out in the third. They gave up ice to the Rangers who without getting their noses to dirty and with only a few players going, were able to mount a weakass comeback. They are a long ways from anything resembling a good team effort. And to Leetchy’s point it’s a obvious total team struggle not just the D. Good team defense is a product of a total team supporting the D. The only two I don’t blame are Lundqvist and Georgiev.

The Rangers at some point in time have to start asking when are DeAngelo, Skjei, Andersson, Howden, Lemieux, and Buchnevich going to start showing some individual improvement. Jury is out on newbies Kakko, Fox and Hajek. But the other mentioned are pretty much same old inconsistent contributors. For a coach that was supposedly hired because of his ability to teach and develop talent. To summarize Quinn’s body of work so far, one could surmise he can’t.

I think Andersson still gets a pass. He has barely played. Howden also gets a pass. His upside might be a 2nd C, he looks more like a strong 2 way 3c. Lemieux is 23 and more is expected, but with so much forward turmoil, he gets some time. I do not have high expectations for these 3 for this season.

Tony D is vastly improved, but he is never going to be strong in the D end of the ice. I think he will be moved.

Buchnevich is a classic Russian enigma. Flashes of top line offensive talent mixed in with indifferent effort at times. He is playing a much better 2 way game. His upside might be Anisomov - around 20g/25a depending on his linemates. If he continues to fill out, he might be able to survive in the corners and do more damage on offense.

Skjei is looking more and more to be a mistake signing. He did play well with McQuaid last year. Maybe if he gets paired up with a stay at home D-man, his game will be better. It is hard to say what happened to him.

The biggest problem for all these guys is the team D system (or lack of system) that Quinn/coaches are running. When the goalies are facing 40 shots a night, there is a serious problem for the team d. Watch how many times all 5 Rangers are playing d below the dots and the point men have wide open looks to fire shots. Too many Rangers are chasing the puck down low and not coming back out. The defensive shape is a mess. Renney and Torts had teams that were much below league average for shots against. Once AV was in charge, the Rangers were above or at league average. AV did not coach defensively and that was one of the reasons he was let go. If Quinn cannot fix the 40 shots a night, he will be following AV out the door.

To my point. The players individually are spinning their tires. None of the above appear to have improved physically none are bigger, stronger, faster, than the previous season. They supposedly worked all summer training where you work on strength, speed, quickness ect. to get better. These are young guys improvement should be evident
DeAngelo improved last year, this year he’s struggled to put it nicely. The rest individually look like last years players. Bigger faster stronger after a summer of training for young players is the name of the game and helps players improve their game skills. I don’t see improvement physically from any of them.
Group wise, and teamwork, is a whole nuther conversation that has even less results.
