Well Shanahan has hitched his pony to Dubas. Now bringing in Dubas’s coach. Already lost Mark Hunter in the front office choosing Dubas over Hunter for G.M. Looks good on the leafs.

Comments last night between periods by Milbury and Jones were interesting. They said that Babcock likes to coach a defensive, physical style, but the GM was giving him offensive minded players. The players were also rebelling, not playing the style that Babcock wanted. The disconnect was obvious, and the lose to the Pens was the last straw apparently.

He'll collect big money on the rest of his contract. He'll also resurface somewhere pretty soon. Just hope it isn't in the Metro Division.

Make Believes - brings back memories when my son was placed on a mites in-house team and my wife thought that was the name of the team.

In North American sports nothing compares even comes close to Toronto & Montreal hockey teams. If NY sports teams, Lakers, I don't know may be Cowgirls have the worse of it, it is nothing compared to those 2 teams. I don't even know why any one would want to play or coach there. You don't even have a chance, a shot.

I would take Babcock today as asst. to the GM and put Quinn on notice.

And after the pathetic performance against the Sens and Quinns even more pathetic press conference I would get Babcock signed and ready to take the reigns.

Funny how no one is counting how many years since they last won the Stanley Cup - 52 years and counting.

Meaning the next guy they bring in has to be a better coach than Babcock... at least in management's eyes.... and if that's the case, there's a chance they put him on a pedestal.

And by that I mean, if the new guy they hire to be coach doesn't produce wins the players will go on the trading block and hit the reset button... Could he major sellers at the deadline or next year

Not that I think he's a saint. Or that he didn't do what he's being accused of.

But it all appears like a witch-hunt. Where are these guys suddenly coming from?
It's like free for all. Similar with Peters and Crawford.
These accusing players are being heard. And people trust the accusations right off the bat.
I know Peters admitted to something.

But coaches often step on toes. Sometimes...they overstep some boundaries. Some players take it, some don't.
Also what about all those players (I guess close to hundreds) these guys coached who are not complaining?

Again....not defending. Just trying to say this affair reminds me too much of the moronic #metoo campaign...

There is something to be said about it’s different today and it is. If Crawford, Babcock, and Peters did some of this stuff, now they’d be shot. Stories of old time coaches abound about abuse, ask the old timers. But the way this retro justice is going when do parents get arrested for smoking in the car with kids in it 20 years ago When do they start arresting them for spanking kids 20 years ago. Fuking world is going crazy worrying more about the past than the future.

Babcock got way too much credit for Wings success. They were always a playoff team but he won 1 cup with some pretty damn good teams. Good riddance to that puss-face.

Stars are being pretty emphatic that this firing has nothing to do with the NHL's new focus on coaching conduct (the "four points" Gary Bettman outlined in the latest BOG meeting). Also says that whatever the misconduct was it did not involve any other Stars personnel. That seems to eliminate any sort of abusive behavior toward players or staff (if you believe them). Nill also said no charges have been brought, but I'm not sure that eliminates the possibility of illegal activity.

Kinda silly to hold a presser and then go out of your way to be opaque about the situation. If you weren't gonna say anything you shouldn't have even called it to begin with. This doesn't benefit anyone, including Montgomery.

This will eventually get leaked out, but it's frustrating that we're all just left in the dark about this.

As for the rest of these coaching firings/investigations, they are warranted and deserved. Babs yelling at players is one thing, but to pull some BS power move with Marner like that is beyond the pale. Just shows you how horribly overrated he's been all these years. Reports of Marc Crawford's abusive behavior are well known. It wasn't until now that the league finally decided to do something about it. He's a total slimebucket anyway, so I have no sympathy.

At least this one looks like they just didn't like how the team was doing...in terms of count I believe that's #5

Calgary - Bill Peters
Dallas - Jim Montgomery
New Jersey - John Hynes
San Jose - Pete DeBoer
Toronto - Mike Babcock

The last time the Red Wings won a game, these coaches were all employed.
