No matter what, the Rangers can take from this game that they can hang with any team in the league. They were right there and a little more out of them and it was 2 points. This loss will also sting and it’s the kind that eats at your craw. Because to a man they also know they didn’t invest enough into the game to win, and they could have won if they had.

Their passing was atrocious in this game.

They were playing the team with the most points in the entire league, a team that excels at taking away time and space. they were in it til the end.

While I thought the Rangers got screwed on a couple of bad bounces that led to the Bruins' first goal, I also think that they played tentative again for the first two periods against a team that they still haven't gained confidence against. They've not played their uptempo, aggressive game for 60 minutes against the Bruins yet. I think the younger guys, with the exception of Lindgren, Lemiuex and Chytil, are a bit intimidated by the Bruins.

When they play the Canes they're confident and aggressive. Same thing when they play the Leafs and Isles. hey're just not there yet against the B's. Which isn't THAT bad when you consider that the B's are arguably the best team in the league.

You can see that the power play, and the team offense as a whole, suffers when Tony D isn't out there. To trade him would be a serious setback.

Gotta love Lindgren. He's already got something festering with Marchand. From The Post:

“I didn’t even know he was here,” Marchand said afterward of Lindgren, a former second-round pick of the Bruins whose rights were acquired by the Rangers in the Rick Nash trade in 2018. “He’s not gonna be a player who’s gonna have a very long career, so I’m not overly concerned about him.”
“He’s a good steady defenseman but there’s nothing that has come up in the past,” the pesky Bruin said. “All the best to him, hope he does a great job, but I can’t see it.”

7 points back with a game in hand. Not great, but not out of it either.

I don't think it's a question of confidence, but more an example of Boston's perfect execution...Rangers cannot get "fancy" with a team like Boston (or teams that clog the middle)...unfortunately, the top lines are used to playing a certain way and when that fails, they have nothing to fall back on. I find it interesting that the bottom lines had more success on the ice because they have a more physical edge to their game. What's worse is that Boston wasn't even at their best....once they got that fluke goal, they just sat back. You could see it in the second when they started taking control....they pushed enough to keep the Rangers on their heels, but always pulled back.

That shift right before the end of the 3rd was Kakkos best this year. Was really impressive. So much strength & puck protection skill.

Lindgren & Fox look like cornerstones. Chytil is going to be GREAT in due time.

Chytl is certainly becoming for assertive with the puck, especially driving to the net.

Coming into this season the question mark on Kappo was he strong and confident enough to play his game in the NHL. The answer was no, his strength was not at the level he needed to play his game. But as the season has gone on his spurts of power using his body to protect the puck and move through traffic is becoming more frequent with a flash or two most games. Every game he's getting closer, and I still expect a big finish for him.
