So my question is, will the Rangers void their tax exemption clause to be the home team, or will they be the away team for the entire playoffs thus obligated to make the first change...Hmmmm, any thoughts or insight, I haven't heard anything has changed

This answers my question regarding home team listings, but will it void their tax clause...hmmmm, still interesting

Start times for Rangers’ first three qualifying-round games have been set.
Game 1, Aug. 1, Noon;
Game 2, Aug. 3, Noon;
Game 3, Aug. 4, Rangers listed as home team, 8 p.m.
Times have not been set for the if necessary Game 4 (home) on Aug. 6 or Game 5 on Aug. 8.

The Rangers will meet the Islanders in an exhibition game on July 29 at 8 p.m. All games will be played at Toronto.

While it was a good story, I can't imagine there's much to this...there's not a practical way for NYC to host games, so they wouldn't get revenue either way.

I agree it is an interesting story and one with some teeth to it, so finally, i found this on the actual agreement....

The Rangers will be the designated home team as warranted throughout the tournament without jeopardizing the Garden’s tax-exempt status with the city. The original agreement includes language that would permit home games to be played elsewhere under Acts of God including an epidemic. The Blueshirts will be the home team with last change for Game 3 and the if necessary Game 4 against Carolina.

Who will be in net when the puck drops on Aug 1st?
Henrik Lundqvist has, for the most part, been quite good. Alex Georgiev has been fine. But neither has outshined Shesterkin to the degree that would have been necessary for Quinn and the Rangers to reverse course.

The fact is, though, that the Rangers are at the very same place regarding their No. 1 as they were when the season broke for the coronavirus on March 12.
Which means No. 31, Igor Shesterkin.

The Rangers have a lot of potential. With Zib, Panarin, Kreider, they have leaders. It’s that second wave of lessor lights that need to step it up. Buchnevich is on the cusp of being a real good reliable dependable player with first line upside. Strome also right there, very successful with Panarin and that’s great, not everybody can play with such a talented guy. But it’s Kakko on that third line that needs to take a big step and from reports he’s bigger, better, and faster. He’s been a busy guy since the end of last season and got some much needed rest. But if he cranks it up and makes the third line a threat, then it’s gonna be fun watching. Assuming Kappo doesn’t play himself up the lineup.

A lot of people like that Jerks team. They do have a lot of good young talent, the goaltending is questionable. And, a lot of people feel Rangers are 1-2 years away.

And Chytl, Gauthier, Kravtsov. Lots of young-uns up front.

Indeed forgot Chytil who’s capable of a good playoff. Exciting times for Ranger fans and interesting article by Brooks

Rangers are officially in Toronto...as MLB has shown (although they are not using the bubble approach), this can unwind pretty quickly, but games less than a week away now
