Given the Canes exit to the Bruins, the pick they received from the Brady Skjei trade will fall into the 20-24 range, pending other results...

Well that is great actually. We really started to do the right things regarding drafts. With some luck yes but the team is built for the future.
Would love to get a stay at home dman like Buje was for us.

Well we would need some luck to get a top 6 center, but perhaps a defensive winger or a stay at home dman with skating abilities...

or just go with best player available or trade that pick and a prospect for a center, Al little size and muscle wouldn't hurt...

Lotta options but you really want to get an NHL (soon) with that pick

I’d like to see a 6’5” 225lb Center with hands and mean, but that’s a pipe dream at 20. I have little doubt the first, Buchnevich and a lower level Rykov type guy should bring something back, possibly making Strome expendable. But it’s all about the right guy coming to New York in the deal. . Squib it to first and three assets gone and nothing to show for it. And the new guy joins Chytil, Barron and Howden in a mess where none might be able to fill the two spot. Assuming Strome gets moved this off season it really makes any number two Center acquisition so important to nail the trade. I’ve liked most all Gorton moves and am looking forward to what he pulls off this draft.

I think its glaringly apparent that pick is gone in a deal to dump Lundqvists contract unless some team takes Buchnevich or other facsimile instead. Not really a fan of moving Buchnevich but there are only so many options to dump that contract. I don't see Gorton getting to a point where the Rangers have to buy out Lundqvist.

Lundqvist still has a full NMC

If he’s getting bought out it’s a moot point to him if it’s by the Rangers or say Ottawa , he has no reason not to accept a trade to facilitate it.

It still requires he waive it. I would rather buy him out and have the pick or trade the pick to fill a need.

If Henrek wants to move elsewhere as a free agent it shouldn’t matter to him if the Rangers buy him out or as mentioned a team like Ottawa gets a asset or two from the Rangers and then buys out Henrek. Really no reason for a Henrek to refuse any trade that’s going to result in his buyout. Traded to another team to play for is a totally different situation. I don’t want to see them lose this pick to dump his contract but that’s probably going to be the choice. Opposing GM’s with cap space know the Rangers are in a tough cap position complicated by Henrek contract. The Rangers don’t have a lot of leverage here, and they need Henrek contract off the books. That’s just my guess, I’d like to see the Rangers keep the pick, and find another chip to use to dump Lundqvist contract.

I'd rather see them trade Strome, DeAngelo, Buchnevich and just buyout Henk if it means saving the 22nd OA pick. Even if improvements are made, this team is too young and not ready to make a deep playoff run. I'd rather see them stockpile prospects, lose the Staal and Smith contracts next year, and think about contending for the 2021-22 season. I'm hearing this is going to be a deep draft. These picks can be important.

I think lundqvist better be proactive and quick about looking for another team. A lot of goalies are available and if he waits to long he might end up with nowhere to go but Frolunda..
