| I think it’s pretty much gone as expected. Moving Staal wasn’t a shocker, and probably the least painless route to some cap room. Not sure there wasn’t better choices at the same money or less than Johnson but apparently new Asst. Coach Martin had input on the decision, only one year so no big deal as a lineup of young dmen should produce roster players real soon.
Up front status quo plus impact forward Lafreniere who is so much better than Fast and will be top six real soon. There has to be and better be some improvement in Howden, Chytil, Lemieux, Gauthier, and if there is the Rangers who were knocking on playoffs door last season will be there.
Still some tweaking needed including some more meat and snarl on lines three and four, and monitor Stromes long term capabilities. |

Honestly, I like it. Maybe give Boyle/Brassard a PTO. 3rd line has some serious potential & maybe Barron taking over for Rooney down the line next season. |

Location: USA | I'd heard talk that Kreider will shift over to the right, which would obviously rearrange the lines. I think there's an awful lot of maybe on the right side that would need to be proven....is Kakko ready for top two lines...can he mesh with Panarin and Strom, or is he better suited for the Zibanejad or Chytil lines. I think if Lafreniere fires, that might drive Kreider over to the right side.
I think Gauthier is a big question mark, he has shown glimpses, but he ultimately needs to put up some offense...or improve his defensive play. Think the fourth line is probably a good guess at this point  |

| I probably have too much faith in this kid, but after watching highlights of the world juniors, I have to believe that Lafreniere is going to make a big difference. WOW!

I think Lafreniere & Gauthier can complement each other nicely on the same line. Definitely think Gauthier needs a playmaker on his line to reach his potential. Play him with Laf, Strome, or Chytil & he will score. |

Location: USA | Brooks had an interesting idea...moving Kreider down to the Chytil line and putting Lafreniere with Zibanejad...or flipping Kreider over to the right and pushing Buchnevich down to the Chytil line...though that would also mean you'd have to figure out who'd play left on the third line |

He is a stud. Gonna be a difference maker. Panarin, Zibanejad, Kakko, Lafreniere that’s exciting. I’d like to see to start
Kreider. Zibanejad. Buchnevich
Panarin Strome Kakko
Lafreniere Chytil Lemieux
Gauthier, Rooney. Howden
Might be a copy of Robs can’t remember but like the balance.
I think Lemieux could be a real good influence on getting Lafreniere acclimatized. Plenty of time to move him up the lineup after 25 games in the meanwhile he’s on a line that could be a lot of fun to watch. If Rooney can drive the fourth line the Rangers are in business.
The Rangers need to get into a four line mindset, they are close to havin* the talent to do so finally. |
