Posts: 850 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They are the only team with a NHL team full of talent with a huge farm. Other teams with top farms and there are only a few have rosters depleted and they need depth. It might cost Kakko. However, since Dubois asked for a deal and dumbass Torts verified it, their leverage might be less. Main issue is Torts is not a rebuild coach or a guy that is good with young players. If they deal Dubois they have to fire Torts. DeAngelo is not a Torts kind of player. I expect the Rangers to move him for a first at the deadline. I would assume Columbus would want Chytil, Lundkvist and Kravtsov if Kakko isn't in the deal. Losing Lundkvist would hurt but they drafted Schneider for a reason. Columbus is not a team with depth and they are in need of improving their farm a lot. However, if it meant giving up Kakko I would throw in Chytil and Jones. Nothing more. I see Dubois being a JD and Gorton type. He's a beast waiting to break out and his game is built for the playoffs. At this point, I would be stunned if NY didn't acquire him. Whenever a players is known to demand a trade, the value coming back is always diminished. The Rangers would be moronic not to take advantage of this. Strome is lame. They need to upgrade center a lot.

Scuttlebutt is that he wants to go to Montreal, no surprise habs on the upswing, French Canadian, habs got plenty to trade. Little doubt the Rangers can throw a pretty good offer at Montreal , but if he ain’t going to be happy in New York why bother. We will see where he ends.

Most of their team are full of average, 26 to 29 year old players. Other than Kotkaniemi who has not impressed and Suzuki, their roster is lacking in top, young, talent. The have drafted poorly for years. Most of their team is full of casts off that other teams no longer wanted. Only a few teams have the farm to deal for him and of those teams as I said, only the Rangers have an NHL roster full of young talent and a stocked farm.

There are some hockey people out there disagreeing with you. Prognosticators that get paid to do so have them anywhere from 2 to 6th. Many predicting playoffs. And it goes back to that's where its said he wants to go. So you have Torts yapping hurting Columbus ability to negotiate from strength, and now its said he wants to play in Montreal. Double trouble for Columbus. And If he does insist on Montreal that's where he's going to end up. You have no idea the pull to play in Montreal for some French Canadians who want nothing to do with living on the English side of things. Dubois probably doesn't give two craps about the teams chances, more about his environment. If that's what this is about, then Columbus is truly hooped.

Posts: 142 ![]() ![]() | There was absolutely no shot we were ever getting Dubois. CBJ was never trading him within their own division. No clue what the poster who started this thread was talking about. Barkov could be a focus after the season since he is a UFA after next season. He'd be a great fit.

The Rangers did not pass on Dubois. The BJ's got a star in Laine, and once again they were never dealing him within their own division. They passed on us, not us passing on Dubois.
