The waste the next 4 years doing nothing, liberals are already in top form. They get the white house yet they are still wasting time on Trump while doing nothing other than overriding what was working. Oh boy. Time to get out of your investments soon and be cash rich until the market crashes and it will with this socialist, liberal crap. I give Biden and his tards another 6 months before they kill the economy. I give Quinn about 2 weeks then he's done.

I hate Larry Brooks with a white hot passion that resembles the sun. But I have to admit that this piece by him was reasonably fair to Tony D.

Not sure why the hate for Larry, he likes to stir the pot but personally I think he’s got a pretty good grasp of what’s going on with the Rangers. No doubt he has the ability to grind gears when he wants to.
As far as this article, listening to Staal I question just what went down here. Appears to be two things we know about his bench minor and resulting two game sit and the Georgiev tussle. As far as the bench penalty goes if I’m TD and the fourth or fifth highest scoring defenseman last season, and after a abbreviated camp get taken off the first powerplay unit for no reason, and watched as their butt was kicked first game, ya I’d be real pissed. Probably slam a few doors and scream to. The Georgiev thing, I didn’t consider something in the privacy of the hallway a big deal. Still don’t. Georgiev coughed the puck up. More likely it was an excuse that Quinn was looking for. Quinn obviously didn’t like him period, end of story, end of Tony.
Great pro coaches can handle a guy like that. Quinn is stuck in college hockey discipline and dealing with boys becoming men. He’s got to improve on that. One could say he is not having much positive influence on any of the vets right now. They can say whatever they want about dumping DeAngelo even JD, but it was as much about last summer being the precipitator and the two in season incidents just the excuse. And the power play sucks and has all year. 10th best last season, almost like something is missing. Quinn got rid of a big piece, and the bean counters are watching and something like this can swing right back at the coach that couldn’t handle him.

The PP sucks for several reasons. One, Quinn is a crap coach. Two, they play in a division that has some of the best defensive teams and faceoff players in the league. Three, Zibanejad has had his head up his ass all season. Maybe the Covid had an effect on him. Who knows. Four, the centers have sucked as a whole all season other than Chytil who got hurt. They should have gone in big for Dubois. Maybe they just didn't want to give up Kakko. It's probably who Columbus wanted. I would turn my attention to Larkin now. Despite the fact he's a hometown kid, Detroit sucks and will for at least another 4 years. They basically are pissing that guys career down the toilet. They would be better off moving him in a 4 or 5 for 1 deal and start building from the net out.

Interesting. And when the PP finished 4th last season was Quinn a crap coach then as well? Let me guess, the PP finished 4th last season in spite of him. The players were the reason. And this year when the PP is struggling it's mainly because of him. We're used to that kind of narrative in here. Good = in spite of coach. Bad = because of coach. Very fair.

Bottom line is Z, Kreider, Strome all need to play way better. That is why we are inconsistent thus far. No magic formula. Those guys get going and we'll be much better for it.

As for the ridiculous Dubois narrative book it boy, he was never EVER coming here. CBJ wasn't trading him in the division, and we didn't have a Laine to offer anyway.

Now you'll make up fantasy trades where we give up 5 pieces for Larkin. Good times.

#1 player for the Kraken to avoid in the draft, Tony DeAngelo

1. Tony DeAngelo
Regardless of where he ends up before the expansion draft, DeAngelo will be tempting to select. Very rarely does a 25-year-old, pending RFA, offensive defenseman become available. However, as many know, there’s a good reason he will be up for grabs.

Consistent behavioral issues have prevented DeAngelo from remaining in any lineup. There’s a laundry list of reasons why the Kraken should not waste their selection on him. If he’s still with the New York Rangers, the Kraken should be taking Julien Gauthier, Brett Howden, Brendan Lemieux, Libor Hajek, or almost anyone not named DeAngelo.

DeAngelo recently “bared his soul” to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, but many feel that it’s a little too late.

There’s no question that DeAngelo is a valuable player when he’s at his best. However, he’s not worth the gamble. After being waived by the Rangers, DeAngelo was unclaimed. No one else wants to deal his emotional outbursts. His name alone stirs up controversy.

It would be heartless to root against DeAngelo. Nobody wants a talented player to fall short of their potential. He just needs to get out of his own way and prove that he’s emotionally capable of contributing to an NHL franchise through his actions, not his words. Until that day comes, the Kraken shouldn’t attempt to nurture a player who’s proven to be untrustworthy.

The positive about DeAngelo's situation is there really isn't any downside. Worst case they buy him out and save 4.4 mill on the cap next season. And for that they only incur a 900 K cap penalty the following season. Not a bad outcome at all. So this one cannot really blow up in our face, which is why Gorton will just wait it out, and if he's here at buyout time, he'll buy him out.

If DeAngelo wants to play in the NHL again, I think his best option would be to terminate his contract with the Rangers and play in Europe for a year or two, do well, show some maturity, and maybe an NHL team will take some interest.

Bottom line, whether you think he's a bad guy (he is) or not, he was always a very one-dimensional talent who has neither the desire nor the maturity to grow as a person or a player. If Gorton wasn't a terrible GM, he would've realized he could've sold high on the guy while he was drafting off of Panarin and gotten something worthwhile. Instead, he waited too long in a season where DeAngelo had arbitration rights and had to sign him for more money than he was worth. Could've easily foisted that headache on someone else and profited off of it. Now? He's left with a completely untenable situation and an entire carton of egg on his face.

I'm not sure you can call Gorton a terrible GM...in fact I'd say he's done more than good. Is he perfect? Not at all, but he's done a pretty good job from an ugly position, and he's had a couple of lucky rolls in the draft to help things along.

As for DeAngelo, you have to remember that before this past season, DeAngelo hadn't really achieved anything. He put up some pretty big numbers in 2019-20, and that lead into this season...so moving him before that would have meant little in the way of return. At the end of the season they reportedly did look at options for moving him, and in the end settled on retaining him at a relatively low-risk contract of two years.
