Eichel was officially stripped of his captaincy today after failing his physical. Despite some reports a few weeks ago now, there appears to still be no agreement on treatment, and so Eichel's potentially return date remains unknown...would seem December at risk unless something changes soon.

and still no agreement on the surgery. If he has surgery tomorrow (unlikely), then he might be ready by Xmas. I would guess his season is going to be spent on IR.

Buffalo has done a pretty impressive job of cratering Eichel’s value.

The Sabres are a joke. It's his health. He should make the decision.

Sounds like it's between the Flames and Golden Knights....rumors that Tkachuk might be involved from a Calgary perspective

Well they liked Krebs, but yeah...seems like not much going the other way

They gave up a shit load. Krebs is a top prospect. Tuch is a high-quality young winger and he shows up in the playoffs. They also got a first rounder and this draft is supposed to be loaded whereas Eichel may never play hockey again.

This isn’t the dumb fuck rangers where they take top forward prospects don’t put them on the first power-play and don’t give them a lot of ice time and ruin in their careers

I don't see this as being a "shitload"....

Tuch is like a younger version of Kreider, with perhaps a little less offense. He has great speed and good offense, but it remains to be seen whether he can go much beyond the 20 goal mark. I think on many teams he's probably on the second line, but with Vegas (and now Buffalo), he'll get ice time that would normally be eaten up by other players ahead of him.

Krebs is more interesting, though I do wonder if Vegas overrated him due to their dearth of centers. He's only 20 years old, but perhaps is a little like Derek Stepan in some ways, though not sure yet if he has that game changing ability that Stepan had, particularly early in his career. I think he's a fair prospect to include for sure, but I'd maybe rate him a step below a top talent.

As for the first round pick, Vegas is probably going to pick in the middle of the round, and perhaps the latter part of the round...which will make the pick less likely to pull a stud than if it was a top 10 or top 5 pick.

There is a risk that Eichel might not play again, or that he may not play as well...and he also carries a hefty contract that Vegas might have to make some additional moves to accommodate as he and others come back from LTIR, but I think the risk is not as great as you might think.

I'm glad the Rangers didn't go after him, because I think they would have had to pay more AND it can be challenging for players to come in and be effective in New York in a way that it probably won't be in Vegas.

Eichel is also reported by many different sources as being a terrible leader and lockerroom guy.

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind after his comments at the season close. Have to wonder how much of this whole mess is because Eichel didn't handle these things professionally, especially when others seemed to figure a path out without all the extra stuff

Definitely did not give up a load..

A prospect is just that, a prospect. Tuch, is a dime a dozen type player. The #1 pick will be somewhere in the 20's.

Even the third rounder that was exchanged has a good chance that it will end up being in the Knights' favor as a higher pick...was a crappy situation all round, but these high end talent trades seldom return value, typically you get better deals on the next level down.
