So some churn in the NYR blogosphere today around pitching an offer sheet to Elias Petterson of the Canucks.

He's 22 years old, almost a point a game guy already
Vancouver has 14 players signed with $20M remaining in Cap space
Max contract you could sign him on an offer sheet would be $16.5Mx7 years
Maximum compensation - 4 first round picks @ $10.5M+

On the first rounders, you'd have to expect they'd probably be mid to late rounders IF Rangers were successful

If they put in a deal at $11M, then Vancouver (if they signed) would need to sign minimum 5 players with $9M of cap space

If New York signed, you'd have to think Zibanejad is gone....just not enough cap space to keep Shesterkin, Fox etc...unless they can unload Kreider or Trouba

Vancouver do have to still sign Quinn Hughes which could make it interesting

Very impressive Center with still some room to grow... His FOW% is only 42% tho. for his career... 45% last season.

Be better off signing a landeskog or danault. Those type of trades would cripple the farm system.

Plus we need a center to win a faceoff that's why I was fired.

I don't think there is any magic anyone can conjure to get a top 5 (in the league) center.

What have you been up to DQ?

I've been thinking Landeskog. Great on faceoffs. Probably looking for Eichel money. Means we wouldn't be able to keep Zibanejad next season.
Danault is a 3C, probably looking for 2C money. Pass.

Well Vancouver just traded Nate Schmidt so they now have almost $6M of additional Cap space to fend off offer sheets

Landeskog is apparently talking $7Mx7years with Colorado, I'm really hoping they don't sign Danault, that's a failed contract before it even starts.
