Case being made for Kakko
https://theathletic.com/2828846/2021/09/16/is-kaapo-kakko-poised-for...
Unlike his rookie season, Kakko was a positive influence on both ends of the ice. He went from a 37 percent expected-goal rate over 66 games to 56 percent over 48.

Instead of stifling the team’s offensive chances, he bolstered them. His influence started in the defensive end, where he took leaps forward.

A season after the Rangers were bleeding scoring chances against with Kakko deployed, he had the lowest on-ice rate of shots and expected goals against, with few shots allowed in the dangerous area right in front of the crease and the team’s expected-goals-against rate nearly 10 percent better with him on the ice than the average forward, according to HockeyViz.

Kakko's skating and defensive game was off the chart better last season. It's a shame retard Quinn was so clueless he didn't have him on the RW on the PP one timing it when Z and Panarin did it from the left side. If they don't use Lundkvist and Fox together on the PP, at least Lundkvist can PP the second unit now which is not a bad thing.

His defensive game has definitely improved. His offensive game however is not where I hoped it would be. I don’t see any creativity. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve yet too see anything close to quick hands or quick thinking while handling the puck. Not a bust, but borderline top 6.

All our creative, euro pussy forwards did the last 3 games vs. the Islanders and last game vs. the craps was bend over and take it up the ass. That creative euro shit doesn't win playoff type games. North-south hockey does. Creativity on the PP is another thing. At even strength, teams like the Isles deny you creativity. You have to win in the trenches.

I made him a great checker. I turned an elite scorer into Blair Betts. Give me a round of applause.

Funny post -

Last season Kakko was credited with 14 hits in 48 games at 14:21 per game. Noted top 6 power forward Colin Blackwell was credited with 45 hits in 47 games at 14:00 per game.

3rd year is often when young players break out. Rangers aka Quinn could have nurtured a line of Chytil, Kakko, and Lafreniere who had a few moments when together last season. Watch their matchups and let them buck. Young players often play with more confidence when together. Playing with seasoned players like Panarin can be intimidating.
