If I start the season with $1M of cap space...and I keep that for the entirety of the season, it works out to be about the equivalent of a player with $5-6M of contract value by the deadline. Put another way, a player with around a $5M contract is due less than a $1M by the time the deadline rolls round. He's still got a $5M contract, but his impact to the yearly cap number would be just $1M at that point. In the case of the Rangers, Capfriendly does the calculation for you, and they're projecting $31.3M of contract value in terms of space. | ||
