Rangers are overall 8-11-2 against the top 8 in each conference.

But if you break it down by goaltender...

Shesterkin: 8-4-1
Georgiev: 0-6-1
Huska: 0-1-0
Kinkaid: 0-0-0

Makes you wonder why Georgiev gets to start so many games against them. Is it to pad Shesterkins numbers and confidence and destroy Georgiev or is there a real reason Georgiev gets to play Carolina and Shesterkin gets Arizona on non back to back nights?

It does certainly show how much Shesterkin means to this team's success. While the Arizona game was in this case the second of a back to back, Gallant is clearly not keen to give his goalie back to back starts on consecutive nights. You could also argue, that the way the Rangers played to start in both games, it could have ended up 0-2-0 if they had gone the other route...

The opening season pair of the Capitals and Stars might have been interesting the other way round...although, again the Rangers weren't great in either game...although they started reasonably well in D.C., and then started poorly at home

Also worth noting that Shesterkin has missed some games with injury/COVID, so there's that to consider too
